Reds Win First Playoff Game

The Reds won the first game of their best-of-three first round playoff game against the Brentwood Brewers, 11 to 1 on Tuesday, June 12th at Holiday Lane in Hampstead. Steve Clark threw the first no-hitter for the Reds this season, striking out 14. Steve also had a great night offensively, sending 108 stitches well over center field with two on base, along with a double. Matt Willey went 3-for-3 with two doubles, Mike Carace and Matt Murrell each had two hits, and Mike Keenan, Jay Riemitis and Scott Randall each had a hit. The Reds meet the Brewers again on Wednesday June 13th in Brentwood at 5:45pm.
The Reds ended their regular season 11 and 4, a strong .733 winning percentage, after losing to the Hampstead A’s 10 to 8 on Thursday, June 7th at Holiday Lane in Hampstead. The Reds finished the season in 2nd place behind the Fremont Marlins. The A’s jumped in front in the top of the first inning with a grand slam home run over right center. The Reds rallied later in the game but came up just short, bringing the winning run to the plate in the bottom of the 6th inning. The Reds out hit the A’s 11 to 9, but they stranded two too many on the bases. Four different pitchers took their turn on the mound for the Reds: Mike Keenan, Mike Carace, Matt Willey, and Matt Murrell who struck out two in his pitching debut this season. Hitting for the Reds tonight were Mike Carace, Mike Keenan, John Fahadien, Steve Clark with a single, a double off the top of the center field fence and solo home run, Matt Willey with two hits, Matt Murrell with two hits, Scott Randall with two hits, and Jay Riemitis with a shot well over the fence in left field just a few feet foul. The Reds are scheduled to begin their playoff season on Tuesday, June 12th at Holiday Lane against the Brentwood Brewers at 5:45pm. Check this site for any change to the playoff schedule.
The Reds defeated the Hampstead Blue Jays for the third time this season, 7 – 1, on Monday, June 4th at Holiday Lane. Matt Willey had an exceptional night - pitching six strong innings, striking out five and letting up only 5 hits. At the plate he helped himself secure the win with a single, double and a two-run homer over the left center fence. Other big hitters were Jay Riemitis with a single and a triple, Mike Carace and Steve Clark each with a double, and Matt Murrell and Mike Keenan each with a single. Steve Clark made a great catch in short center from his post at short. The Reds have no time to rest as they meet the Chester Rockies on Tuesday, June 5th at Holiday Lane; game time 5:45pm. The Reds would love to get the game back that they lost to Chester earlier in the season!

Reds Pound Out 14 Hits for Their 8th Win

The Reds had their best outing as far as hits are concerned with 14 as they defeated the Sandown Devil Rays in Sandown on Tuesday, May 29th. Thirteen base runners in Reds uniforms safely crossed the plate against four runs for Sandown. Steve Clark threw hard for the entire game striking out a season high 13 batters and allowing only five hits. The Multi-Hit club for this game included Mike Keenan (4), Matt Murrell (3), and Matt Willey (2), along with hits from Mike Carace, Jason Carace, Steve Clark, Matt Novak, and Jay Riemitis. The Reds’ record now stands at 8 and 3 as they prepare to face the Brentwood Brewers in Brentwood at 5:45pm.
