HAWKS BEAT MASCENIC AT BASEBALL HALL OF FAME
Cooperstown, NY.. The Hawks came out swinging Saturday afternoon, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the first and another in the second to give senior southpaw ace Sam Bonifant all the runs he would need as Hopkinton won going away 7-1 over Mascenic. The Hawks added a single run in the 4th and then scored 3 in the top of the 7th to break a good game open. Bonifant cruised for most of the game striking out 6, walking 1, and giving up only 5 hits on the day. Nate Greabe had a hand defensively in turning 2 double plays and recorded 3 putouts and 3 assist on the afternoon. At the plate, Bonifant went 2-3 with 2 rbi's, Colin O;Keeffe continues to hit the ball going 2-3 with a sac bunt and a rbi and Jake Nelson had the big hit in the 7th a 2 rbi triple. Hawks improve to 7-1 and will play home Monday vs Prospect Mountain (6-1).

HOPKINTON 11 NEWPORT 0
Nate Greabe, Sam McManus and Jake Nelson each reached base 3 times in 5 innings and the Hawks scored runs in each of thier 4 at bats as they blanked the Tigers 11-0. Greabe ended up 3-3 with an rbi, McManus had a rbi double and 2 walks and Nelson went 2-3 reached on an error and hit a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 4th to help the Hawks 10 run the Tigers. Sam Bonifant faced 16 Newport batters striking out 7 and Jay White pitched the 5th. Hawks improve to 6-1 and will now travel to the Baseball Hall of Fame to play Mascenic at Double Day Park Saturday at 5pm.
MCNICHOLAS DELIEVERS KEY PITCHING PERFORMANCE
HAWKS DOWN FARMINGTON 8-1
With senior pitching ace Sam Bonifant a question mark for the Hawks, Liam McNicholas was called upon to pitch his first varsity start. The sophomore delievered turning in a gem facing 20 Farmington batters allowing only 1 hit (a homerun in the 4th) while striking out 3. McNicholas got tired in the top of the 6th walking 3 of the 4 hitters he faced but got a double play ball and finished his outing pitching 5 2/3 innings. Bonifant did come in to relieve McNicholas and struck out 3 of the 5 batters he faced.
On the offensive end, Colin O'Keeffe collected 3 hits while knocking in 2 rbi's. McNicholas and Bonifant also had 2 hits each. The Hawks led 3-1 going into the bottom of the 4th when Auger hit a ball into left for a single and Jake Nelson got on base by a droped pop up. Senior Matt Gleason was asked to bunt and got down a perfect ball to advance both runners in front of O'Keeffe's 1 out 2 rbi single that helped seal the win. Hawks play Tuesday home vs Newport at NOON.
