The Eagles second round playoff game against the East Meadow Jets was suspended due to inclement weather. The game was one of many lead changes. East Meadow jumped on top with an unearned run in the 1st, but the Eagles responded with 2 of their own in their half of the 1st. Then in the 4th inning, East Meadow took the lead on a 2 run single making it 3-2. Central responded in the 5th with a leadoff single by John Palladino and then a 2 run homerun by Chris Widmer to make the score 4-3, in favor of Central. In the top of the 6th inning the skies opened up, but play resumed, allowing East Meadow to tie the game on a homerun. The game was called at the conclusion of the top of the 6th and play will resume at Fireman's Field on Thursday at 4PM, with the Eagles batting in the bottom half of the 6th inning. The winner of this game advances to face Hicksville in the nassau county semifinals on friday (if the rain ever stops).

Behind the gutsy pitching of Phil Spotteck and the bats of Tom Novello and Chris Widmer, the Eagles clinched the 2001 A-3 conference title by defeating Mepham, 7-5. Spotteck went the distance for the win, giving up 2 earned runs and scattering 7 hits and striking out 6. Tom Novello sparked a 3 run 4th inning with his solo homerun. After Mepham hit a game tying homerun in the bottom of the 5th, the Eagles responded and Chris Widmer hit the game winning 2 run triple in the top of the 6th. Widmer was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's.
