News and Announcements

With a few players out due to illness, the entire team stepped it up to get the win cycle back in tune. Jake Schulz, Casey Connely and Chris Kenny put great preformances together to bring home the win. Our bats came alive once agian with a home run by Forrest Grawin and 3 triples by Matt Hall. Our overall record is now 5-2. Let's hope the entire team can stay healthy to put more wins on the board...... it sure fun watch'in!!!!

Vista freshman went up early and the Mav freshman were unable to catch up. Tanner Gage was the starter for LCC: Tanner pitched four innings, Jason Guendert, Andrew Hinkle and Dillon Thomison pitched in relief. Danny Martin hit a solo home run. Down 6-4 in the bottom of the 7th, LCC loaded the bases but was not able to score. image

La Costa advances to the Pirate/Falcon championship game with a 15-3 win at home. Max McNabb pitched a strong  5 innings, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and striking out 8. Jake Webb and Cody Parks each worked a steady inning in relief.  After the Pointers opened the game scoring 2 in a strong first inning, the Maverick bats came alive, producing 15 runs in the first 4 innings. Almost everyone contributed to the show, but a few standouts must be mentioned. Phil Evans went 4 for 5 with 3 doubles, 3 runs scored and 4 RBI’s. Will Swanner had 2 towering doubles and 3 RBI’s. Mitch Tybroski and Zach Gage each scored 3 runs, while Grant Jochem and Matt Lindberg each drove in 3 runs. The bats are back!

 

Garrett Hughes and Parker Johnson combined to shut out the Marauders, allowing just 3 hits. Garrett went 5 innings and struck out 7. The Mav offense stuggled against the Mira Mesa starter, managing only 2 runs on 1 hit by Hughes. In the 5th inning the Marauder defense loosened and their relievers had control problems. The Mavs scored 7 runs on 2 errors, 5 straight walks, and a hit by Bobby Zalud. Overall, the Mavs had just 2 hits and struck out 10 times in 6 innings.

Mavs beat Great Oak 4-1

Mavs and Great Oak played 7 innings to a 1-1 tie. Michael Swanner pitched
5 innings, giving up only 3 hits and one run. Bobby Zalud led off the 6th inning
with a clutch single and was driven in by Zach Gage to tie the score. In the top of the 8th
the Mavs scored 3 runs on 4 singles by Gage, Evans, Jochem, and Lindberg. Jake Raffaele
threw 3 shutout innings in relief to notch the win. Mavs move to 3-0 for the tournament.
