09 Season Ends in RB

Posted by ileana Evans at May 28, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Mavs lost a hard-fought game by a final 4-6 score to end their CIF run. Michael Swanner went the distance on the mound for LCC, striking out 4 and allowing only 3 hits over 6 innings.  RB jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 3 innings on 2 walks and 2 home runs, but the Mavs battled back with a run in the 4th on a leadoff double by Will Swanner and a sac fly by Matt Lindberg. LCC opened the 6th with a leadoff solo home run by Mitch Tybroski and then loaded the bases on walks to Phil Evans and Swanner and a single by Grant Jochem. Evans  scored on a wild pitch and Swanner came home on a balk to tie the game at 4-4. The Mavs were unable to hold RB in the bottom of the frame, allowing 2 more runs on 2 walks and a single. LCC threatened in the 7th on an Evans single, but were unable to move him around, and the game and season ended. Tybroski finished strong, going 2 for 4, and Will Swanner scored 2 of the Mav runs.
