The JV squad jumped on Poway by a score of 12-7. The boys pounded out 11 hits to go with 12 runs. 15 Mavericks reached base safely in the game. Highlights included: Tanner Gage two knocks including a double ,Zack Armstrong had two singles, Skyler Redondo and Josh McMahon each had extra base hits. The Pitching was excellent once again except for the proverbial "one bad inning" with Tanner Gage pitching 4 solid innings and Nick McAdoo going 2 strong innings.
"One bad inning" is the baseball cliche which rang true in this contest. Three Maverick miscues helped the visitors score all eight runs in the impactful 2nd inning. On the bright side, there was excellent pitching by Dillon Thomison who pitched 3 scoreless innings. Dudeck and Redondo also had shutout outings. Offensively the Mavericks had several well struck baseballs, but unfortunately they were hit right at Great Oak defenders. The five Mav hits were recorded by Danny Martin and Jason Guendert with 2 each, and Zach Armstrong had a single in three tries.
