Mavs win first league contest 13-0

The Mavericks started league play with a bang, defeating Mission Hills 13-0.  Andrew Hinkle picked up where he left off in his last start, hurling 5 shutout innings to bring his consecutive scoreless innings steak to 12.  Dillon "Jimi Hendrix" Thomison pitched impressively in his 2 scoreless frames.  Offensively the Mavs were led by Skyler Redondo with 3 hits and 3 RBI's, followed by Weston Corica with 3 hits and 2 RBI's. Other Mavericks with knocks included: Josh McMahon with a triple, Jason Guendert with a double,Tanner Gage, Daulton Morgan ,Robby Schupp, Zach Armstrong and Marcos Vera recorded singles.

Boys beat up on Ramona 12-2

The Mavericks continued their winning ways by defeating Ramona yesterday 12-2.  The pitching was excellent, holding the Bulldogs to zero earned runs. Drew Krassny went the first 5 innings,allowing 4 hits and striking out 4.  Kyle Hogencamp pitched the final 2 innings allowing no hits and fanning 3.  Offensively the boys continued swinging the sticks well. Andrew Hinkle and Tanner Gage led the way with multi-hit games. Additionally, Corica, Redondo and Lyon added to the slugfest with extra base hits.  In spite of several heartbreaking losses, the Mavs improve their record to 10-6 overall.

MAVERICKS WIN WILD ONE OVER RAMONA 12-11

  Max MacNabb's grand slam home run helped the Mavericks jump out to a 9-0 lead after four innings.  Ramona, the winner of the Lions Tournament's Class 6A Division and ranked 10th in the County rallied to take an 11-9 lead.  In the bottom of the 6th inning the Mavericks rebounded with three more runs for the 12-11 win.  Jake Webb was in the right spot at the right time to pick up his 3rd win of the year and Cody Parks earned the save with a scoreless 7th inning.

 

  On Friday April 9th, Rancho Bernardo beat Westview 7-1 to win the 2010 North County Tournament.

Mavericks Beat Ramona 19-4

The Mavericks faced the Bulldogs of Ramona at Diegueno Field.  The Mavericks jumped out ahead in the first inning with 2 runs.  In the 3rd inning they batted around twice and scored 13 runs.   From there the Mav's sailed to a 19-4 win.  The hitting fest featured 17 hits and included HR's by Solomon and Davern with lots of others joining in with hits as well.  The hitters included Allmaras, Casas, Casinelli, Davern, Johnson, Miller, Sachrison, Schenk, Solomon, and Winters.

Colin Winters started on the mound and gave up no earned runs thru 4 2/3 innings.  Curtis, Addy, and Baere spelled relief to finish the game for the Mavericks.

This win puts the Mavericks at 4-1 for the North County Tournament.  Unfortunately Rancho Bernardo and Westview both finished with 5-0 records and they will be playing in the championship game.  The final tournament results can be found at: http://www.pacificbaseballumpires.org/Standings.html.

It was a long drive home for the boys from Ramona...
