MAVERICKS WIN WILD ONE OVER RAMONA 12-11
Max MacNabb's grand slam home run helped the Mavericks jump out to a 9-0 lead after four innings. Ramona, the winner of the Lions Tournament's Class 6A Division and ranked 10th in the County rallied to take an 11-9 lead. In the bottom of the 6th inning the Mavericks rebounded with three more runs for the 12-11 win. Jake Webb was in the right spot at the right time to pick up his 3rd win of the year and Cody Parks earned the save with a scoreless 7th inning.
On Friday April 9th, Rancho Bernardo beat Westview 7-1 to win the 2010 North County Tournament.
The Mavericks faced the Bulldogs of Ramona at Diegueno Field. The Mavericks jumped out ahead in the first inning with 2 runs. In the 3rd inning they batted around twice and scored 13 runs. From there the Mav's sailed to a 19-4 win. The hitting fest featured 17 hits and included HR's by Solomon and Davern with lots of others joining in with hits as well. The hitters included Allmaras, Casas, Casinelli, Davern, Johnson, Miller, Sachrison, Schenk, Solomon, and Winters.
Colin Winters started on the mound and gave up no earned runs thru 4 2/3 innings. Curtis, Addy, and Baere spelled relief to finish the game for the Mavericks.
This win puts the Mavericks at 4-1 for the North County Tournament. Unfortunately Rancho Bernardo and Westview both finished with 5-0 records and they will be playing in the championship game. The final tournament results can be found at: http://www.pacificbaseballumpires.org/Standings.html.
