Mavericks Tame The Cougars 10-3

Posted by Neil Miller at Apr 27, 2010 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The Mavericks traveled east to Escondido to face the Cougars in game two of the week's three-game series.  The Mavericks scored three big runs in the first inning.  Escondido managed to scratch out a few singles and scored a run in the 2nd inning, and 2 more in the 3rd.  Moving to seal the deal, LCC batted around in the 3rd inning and added five more runs.   LCC won by a final score of 10 to 3.

Keats Ewing started on the mound and pitched three innings to get the win.  Chad Teriault and Colin Winters spelled relief, pitching two innings each.

The Mavericks produced 11 hits in the game including a homerun jack by Andrew Solomon in the first inning.  Balderas, Curtis, Davern, Johnson, Marinos, Miller, and Winters also had hits in the game.

Averaging 11 runs per game, it's easy to see how the team has become known for it's hitting but the defense played another outstanding game with no errors recorded.

The Mavericks now return to their home field for the final game in the series.   The team is 23-2 for the 2010 season.
