Upcoming Series Against Torrey Pines
Chargers, Raiders. Army, Navy. Red Sox, Yankees. Lakers, Celtics. Ohio State, Michigan. All great rivalries, but none compare to La Costa vs. Torrey Pines.
La Costa is 11-0 in league play. Torrey is 12-0.
Wednesday, May 12 is Game 1 of the season-finale, three games series. Let the season begin.
Go Mavericks.
Mavericks Take Game 2 of Doubleheader & Sweep the Series
In the top of the first, Fallbrook jumped out to a two run lead. The Mav's responded with two of their own. Fallbrook then answered with another, but the Mavericks replied with SIX. From there it was typical Maverick brute force offense, on a field that just cannot contain the boys. The Mavericks went on to win the game and sweep the series. The final score was LCC 15, Fallbrook 6.
Solomon and Davern both hit homeruns and Winters, Balderas, Johnson, and Ewing all added hits.
Kyle Sachrison got the win pitching four innings. He was relieved by Keats Ewing, and Austin Baere closed in the 7th.
Interesting fact for the day - The Maverick defense turned four double-plays during the day's doubleheader. Nice work.
The Mavericks now retain their perfect league record of 11-0 and they now move to 27-2 for the season.
Late rally comes up short
Mavericks Take Game One of Fallbrook Doubleheader

The Mav's then kept the pedal to the metal in the second inning with 4 more runs. Not willing to give up, the Mav's batted around yet again in the fourth inning adding 5 more runs. The Mav's coasted to a final score of Mav's 16, Warriors 5.
On the offensive side Andrew Solomon and Brandon Miller both jacked homeruns, and Davern had a perfect day with three hits. They were joined by a slew of other hitters including Curtis, Sachrison, Winters, Balderas, and Smith.
Carter Johnson started on the mound and gave up just one run in four innings. He was relieved by Kyle Morris Morris with two innings and Drew Addy closed in the seventh.
Following the game the boys all presented flowers and hugs to their mothers! Nice job boys.
