Mavericks Win Seventh League Title And First Avocado West League Title
The Mavericks had to fight from behind to win their seventh league title 8-5 over Carlsbad. The game started with Carlsbad hitting a first inning grand slam. It seemed to wake the Mavericks as they answered with 6 in the top of the second highlighted by a three run home run by Anthony Balderas. Andrew Hinkle was large for the Mavericks as he stepped in to replace Jake Schulz and pitched 6 strong innings for the win. The Mavericks will now begin the CIF playoffs with a home game Wednesday at 3:30.
