North County Tournament Championship Game
The Mavericks advanced to the North County Championship Game on Friday night against Vista. The Mav's jumped ahead in the 1st when Casinelli doubled to RF and scored when Winters hit him in. The Mav's then sat back and played an outstanding 5 innings of perfect defense and outstanding pitching. The infield made 4 keys plays to keep runners off first base and Carter Johnson threw 6 innings of NO HIT pitching.
The Mav's added two insurance runs in the 6th when Winters walked, Balderas reached first on an error and Solomon drove a double. Heading in to the 7th inning it was LCC 3, Vista 0. This game was in the bag, the fat lady was starting to sing............. then Vista hit a crappy rolling-ball infield single that put a runner on first. From there Vista managed to follow with a few walks and an error and two hits and before long the Panthers had scored 4 runs to take the lead. LCC could not score in the bottom of the 7th and Vista won this championship game with a final score of 4-3.
Johnson was the starter and threw 6 innings of NO HIT baseball. Souter entered in the 7th and took the L.
The Mavericks will begin league play on Monday against Fallbrook.

LCC Beats Torrey 3-2
The Mav's faced arch rival and nemesis Torrey Pines today at Torrey. LCC jumped on the board on the 2nd pitch of the game when Casinelli hit a line shot HOMERUN to left field. The Mav's then added another run in the 2nd when Sean McElroy walked, followed by a Moniac single, a walk by Casas and an RBI walk by Casinelli. This put LCC up 2-0.
The Mav's shut out the Falcons until the bottom of the 5th when Torrey scored one run and stranded the bases loaded. Torrey added another in the 6th to tie the game.
LCC scored a run in the top of the 7th when Moniac singled and stole 2nd. Souter walked and then Torrey made an infield error allowing Moniac to score. LCC then held in the bottom of the 7th to win 3-2.
The Mavericks are now 9-5 for the season. The Mavericks will open the 2013 Avocado League West season next week.
