Tyler Ryan faced the minimum number of Carlsbad hitters in shutting out Carlsbad 1-0 on only two singles. T.Ryan has now pitched 14 consecutive scoreless innings in upping his personal pitching record to 6 wins, no losses and two saves. The first Lancer that reached on a hit was thrown out trying to steal 2nd, Alvarez to Fuller. The other two runners were cut down by double plays. Anthony Alvarez went 3 for 3 with a double but only 4 other Mavs could muster a hit off Carlsbad's freshmen Cody Cantabrana.
In the bottom of the 7th Will Stoffel led off with a double over the right fielder's head, Alvarez pushed a bunt single past the pitcher and Diehl was walked intentionally. With the infield drawn in Chris Fuller blasted a hit between third and short to knock in the game winning run.
The Mavericks maintained a perfect 5-0 league record and 18-4 overall. The Lancers lost to the Mavs for the 2nd day in arow and fell to 2-3 in league and 8-11-1 overall.
Paul Oseguera collected 3 hits and 5 runs batted in to help lead the Mavericks to a 9-3 win over the cross town rivals. Andrew Nacario banged out 3 hits, stole 2 bases and scored twice while both Joey Burke and Casey Sterk each scored 3 times. Brian Brehm in relief of Will Stoffel pitched 4 shut out innings to up his record to 3-1. Defensive highlights included a Diehl to Fuller to Chapalone double play, a diving stop of an infield hit by Burke which saved one run and set up a fly ball out to Sterk in right field which turned into a double play as Sterk timed the catch perfectly and threw a strike in the air to Alvarez to catch the runner who had tagged up at 3rd, and Will Stoffel's diving catch in left field for the final out of the game.

In the first round of league play the Mavs outscored their opponents 44-11.
