Poway scored one in the first, two in the second inning and held on to beat the Mavericks 6-2. The Mavs had one of those days hitting them where they are and Poway made the plays to advance to the semi-final game with Rancho Buena Vista. The Mavericks finished with a team record 27 wins and 7 losses, while Poway increased their overall record to 15-18. Johnny Zepeda made the start for the Mavs, going 3 and two-thirds innings, yielding 4 earned runs on 7 hits, 1 walk, 2 Hit by Pitch and striking out 2. Tyler Ryan came in to get the last out of the 4th inning, going two and one-third innings, allowing only 1 earned run on 2 hits and striking out 3. Conradi took the win for the Titans after taking the loss in the previous Tuesday loss to the Mavs, while Zepeda(3-4)was charged with the loss for the Mavs who were limited to only six singles.
In the top of the second inning Alvarez and Diehl both singled up the middle and then the Poway short stop snared a blistering line drive by Fuller. In the top of the third with two outs Burke walked, Chapelone was hit by a pitch and they moved to 2nd and 3rd on a wild pitch. Paul Oseguera then hit one to the right field fence that the right fielder made a great catch on to save two runs. In the top of the 4th Stoffel lined one back up the middle that the pitcher reached up and caught. In the top of the 5th trailing 5-0 the Mavs loaded the bases on Fuller's walk, Nacario hit by a pitch, and Sterk's single. Burke then flyed out to shallow left and Chapelone singled to score two runs. Oseguera singled to reload the bases but a running mishap and a strike out ended the rally. In the top of the 6th Matt Ryan singled but then Fuller hit another line drive caught by the short stop.
In the early game Montgomery edged Torrey Pines 1-0 to earn a rematch with Rancho Bernardo in the other semi-final game.

Rancho Buena Vista scored twice in the 3rd, twice in the 4th and 3 in the 6th inning in a 8-2 win over the Mavericks. Watson earned the win for the Longhorns while Stoffel(2-2) was charged with the loss, pitching 3 and 1/3 innings, 4 earned runs, on 5 hits while striking out 4 and walking 1. Brian Brehm pitched a strong 2 and 2/3rds innings, yielding 3 earned runs on 6 hits while striking out 2 and walking 2. Brian also helped himself out by picking off three different runners at 2nd base.
Stoffel struck out the side in the first inning but a walk, a stolen base and a single put RBV up 1-0. In the third inning Anthony Alvarez blasted a solo home run to tie the game at 1-1. However in the bottom of the 3rd a single, a triple and a infield ground out allowed RBV to move out to a 3-1 lead, which was increased to 5-1 in 4th. In the top of the 5th inning the Mavs loaded the bases on Oseguera's single, Stoffel being hit by a pitch and Alvarez walk. Diehl then just missed tying the game but did get a sacrafice fly to deep center.
The Mavericks(27-6) will play Poway(14-18) on Saturday May 25th at 2:00pm at Carlsbad High School in an elimination game. Poway eliminated MtCarmel 4-2.
