The Mavericks spotted the 10th ranked Oceanside Pirates a 5-1 lead in the 2nd inning, then preceded to bang out 17 hits in defeating Oceanside 21-8. The game was tied at 7-7 in the fourth inning when the Mavericks took control of the game. In the 4th the Mavericks sent 12 hitters to the plate scoring 7 times on 6 hits. The Mavericks did not slow down as they scored three more in the 5th and four in the 6th. Michael Kenney recorded his fifth win of the year for the Mavericks, but had to battle through the first two innings. After the first two innings Kenney settled down and pitched well in the victory. Brian Brehm in his second pitching appearance of the year pitched two strong innings in relief. The offensive charge was lead by Andrew Nacario who was 4-5 (1b, 2 2b's, 3b, 6 runs, 5 RBI's), Joey Burke 3-4 (1b, 2b, 3b, 3 runs, 4 RBI's), and Johnny Zepeda 4-6 (3 1b, 3b, 4 RBI's). The win moves the Mavericks record to 18-1 on the season and 5-0 in league. The Mavericks play next week on 4/29 @ Oceanside, and 5/1 @ LCC.

Doug Konoske was sharp in defeating Carlsbad High School 15-11. In five innings of work he gave up two runs on three hits. The victory moves him to 5-1 on the season. Scott Clement stayed hot at the plate going 3-5 with a HR, 2B and 3 RBI's. The highlight of the game was Joey Burke's catch down the left field foul line, which resulted in a double play. Chris Fuller and Andrew Nacario also had three hits for the Mavericks. With the win the Mavericks move to 17-1 and 4-0 in league. The Mavericks currently have a 1 game lead over Fallbrook.

LA COSTA CANYON 16-1 overall and 3-0 in the Avocado League jumped to the top of the State Rankings this week. This is the first time in the school's history that the baseball team has been ranked the Number One team in the State. Other local teams listed were El Capitan at 5th, Mission Bay at 7th, Montgomery at 12th, Rancho Buena Vista at 17th and Rancho Bernardo at 18th.
