La Costa Canyon Mavericks are now ranked #4 in the COUNTRY! GO MAVS! 1. A&M Consolidated (College Station) Texas 26-1 (2) The Tigers have their last 16 games are are a solid No. 1 team in the Texas Class 5A. 2. Parkview (Lilburn, GA) 18-1 (5) The {Panthers are on a tear with 13 straight wins and are still unbeaten in regional play. 3. Bellaire (Bellaire, TX) 28-2 (7) The No. 2 ranked Texas Class 5A team continues to impress and is top-rated in the competitive Houston metro area. 4. La Costa Canyon (Carlsbad, Calif.) 18-1 (43) California's season was jumbled recently when previous national No. 1 La Quinta of Westminster lost twice at the National Classic during the same week in which previously unbeaten Capistrano Valley and Chatsworth both lost. La Costa Canyon took over the state's No. 1 ranking with just one-loss against tough San Diego area competition. The Mavericks scored 14, 15 and 21 runs in their three games last week. GO MAVS!

Mavs Beat El Camino 9-2

The Mavericks moved their league record to 7-0 on Thursday as they defeated the El Camino Wildcats 9-2. Michael Kenney pitched five innings of one hit ball to earn his 6th win on the year. Brian Brehm relieved Kenney allowing two runs on one hit. The game was broken open when Scott Clement pinch hitting for Nick Burke hit a bases loaded single down the left field line. The single scored two runs and opened the flood gates for a seven run inning. The Mavericks move to 20-1 on the season. They also remained the #1 team in the state for the second week. Mavs Complete Sweep of Oceanside

The Mavericks completed the two game sweep of the Oceanside Pirates beating them 9-1 on Tuesday. The sweep saw the Mavericks score 30 runs and surrender 9. On Tuesday Drew Logan started and pitched four innings of one hit ball allowing only one unearned run. Doug Konoske relieved and pitched three innings of one hit ball to get his 6th win of the year. Again the Mavericks banged out 15 hits but were unable to capitalize until the 6th inning. In the 6th inning Scott Clement started the two out rally with a single to right. Peter Bethea followed with a single to right, and Nick Burke was walked. With the bases loaded Andrew Nacario crushed a 2-1 pitch to left center plating all three runners. On the next pitch Joey Burke singled to center scoring Nacario. In the seventh Johnny Zepeda hit a two run home run to seal the victory for the Mavs. The Mavericks move to 19-1 on the season, and 6-0 in league.

CAL-HI SPORTS STATE HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL POLL

LA COSTA CANYON (18-1)continues as the Number One ranked high school baseball team in California. El Capitan (16-2)moved up to No: 3 overall and the top Division Two team. Rancho Bernardo (15-3)fell to No: 14 and Mission Bay (17-4) dropped to No: 15.
