Diehl's Blast Beats Carlsbad

Posted by Jamie Machado at May 13, 2003 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Mavericks defeated Carlsbad High School yesterday 5-2 in a Avocado League matchup. The Mavericks fell behind 2-0 in the third, but responded in the top of the fourth thanks to Scott Clement. With Johnny Zepeda on first Scott hit a line drive over the center field wall to tie the game at 2-2. Then in the sixth inning Scott led off with a walk to be driven in by a blast to left field by Nick Diehl. The home run was his second of the year and came at a great time for the Mavericks. Drew Logan pitched a complete game 5 hitter striking out 7. It was the first time he has gone the distance this year. The win moves the Mavericks to 11-0 in league play.
