Mavericks Finish League Play Perfect

Posted by J Machado at May 22, 2003 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Mavericks finished the Avocado League yesterday with a 2-0 victory over Mt. Carmel. With the victory the Mavericks finish the season a perfect 15-0 in league. Dating back to last year the Mavericks are 28-1 in the Avocado League. The victory yesterday was a hard fought pitchers duel that produced only 5 hits in the game. In the second inning Nick Diehl hit double down the right field line scoring Scott Clement from first base. The only other scoring came when Andrew Nacario was hit by a pitch, stole second, and was moved to third on a groundout. With two outs Nacario stole home to give the Mavericks a 2-0 lead. Kenney was almost perfect in his outing striking out 8 while not walking a batter. The Mavericks will begin CIF competition on Wednesday at LCC 4:00.
