Mavs Cruise Past El Camino

The Mavericks used a solid pitching performance and timely hitting to defeat the Wildcats 10-1. Tyler Wells started for the Mavs going six innings, striking out 5, allowing 6 hits, and giving up one unearned run. Behind Wells the Mavericks were able to jump on the Wildcat starter to score 8 runs in the first four innings. The Mavericks were led offensively by Jimmy Pierce (3-5, 1 r, rbi), Nick Signaigo (2-4, 1r, rbi), and Grant Allgire

Anderson Pitches Mavs to Victory

The Mavericks moved to 4-0 on the season behind a wonderful pitching performance by Kyle Anderson. Anderson improved to 2-0 on the season with a 2 hit complete game shut out. The solid outing moves Anderson's ERA to .58. The Mavericks only offensive production came in the first inning. Brett St. Amour led off the game with a base hit to left. He advanced to second on a walk to Jimmy Pierce, and scored on a sacrifice bunt by Grant Allgire. Pierce then scored on a single by Mike Ramirez. With the victory the Mavericks secured a spot in Saturday's Championship game at Oceanside High School at 11:00. The Mavericks complete pool play in the Falcon/Pirate Tournament on Friday at El Camino.

Mavericks Defeat University City

The third game of the week had the Mavericks playing #10 ranked University City. The Mavs again used solid pitching and timely hitting to defeat the Centurions 10-4. Tyler Wells pitched 6 strong innings, striking out 6 and allowing 3 runs. With the win Tyler picked up his first varsity victory. Offensively the Mavericks were led by Brett St. Amour (2-4, 2B), Jimmy Pierce (2-4, 2-2B, 2RBI's), Mike Ramirez (2-3, 2B, RBI), and Cole Duccey (2-4, RBI). The Mavericks scored runs in the 2nd through the 6th to take a 10-1 lead and coasted to the victory. The win gives them a 3-0 record in tournament play. The Mavericks play Bonita Vista on Wednesday at home.

Mavs Use Big Innings to Defeat Pt. Loma

On Friday the Mavericks moved their record to 2-0 with a 15-5 victory over Pt. Loma. After two and a third innings Pt. Loma was holding onto a 2-1 advantage. That's when the Mavericks exploded for seven runs in the third and seven in the fourth. The Mavericks were led offensively by Nick Signaigo (3-4, 2 3B's, 4 RBI's). With two outs and the bases loaded Signaigo hit a fastball into the right center gap scoring all three Mavericks. On the mound the Mavericks were led by Russ Lowell who pitched four and two thirds recording 13k's. An amazing total considering the amount of innings pitched. With his effort he picked up his first varsity victory. The Mavericks play at University City on Saturday.
