With the victory over Westview the Mavericks and Coach Machado won their 200th game.

Mavericks Defeat Westview

Jimmy Voaklander pitched a complete game four hitter allowing one run in a 3-1 victory over the Westview Wolverines. The Mavericks continued to battle at the plate collecting four hits. The scoring started when Jimmy Pierce was hit by pitch, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a pass ball. In the fifth St. Amour reached first on a fielders choice. Jimmy Pierce then came to the plate and hit a 0-2 pitch 400 feet to dead center to put the Mavericks up 3-1. The win moves the Mavericks to 13-6 and 3-1 in league. The Mavs play again Thursday at home against Rancho Bernardo 3:30.

Mavs Come From Behind to Open League

The Mavericks came from six runs down to beat visiting Mt. Carmel yesterday 7-6. The Sundeveils started the scoring in the third, scoring four runs on four hits to take a 4-0 lead. They continued in the fourth scoring two more on three hits to extend their lead to 6-0. In the bottom half of the fourth the Mavericks battled back scoring six runs on five hits highlighted by doubles by Derek VanLeeuwen and Brett St. Amour. In the bottom half of the fifth the Mavericks answered again when Cole Duccey (3-3) lead off with a single, moved to second on a single by Grant Allgire and scored on a base hit by Mike Ramirez to take a 7-6 lead. Chris Brookey who relieved Voaklander pitched 3 1/3 perfect innings to earn his first varsiy victory. The win moves the Mavericks record to 11-5 and 1-0 in league play. They will play again on Thursday at Torrey Pines 3:30.

Ramirez Homer Lifts Mavs

Michael Ramirez hit a three run home run in the seventh to lift the visiting Mavericks over the Ramona Bulldogs 11-10. Trailing 8-7 going into the last frame Jimmy Pierce homered on a 2-2 pitch to tie the game at eight. After consecutive walks to Grant Allgire and Cole Duccey Michael Ramirez hit a 1-0 fastball over the right field fence to give the Mavericks a three run lead. The Mavericks were leading 7-2 when the Bulldogs mounted a comeback scoring four in the fifth, and two in the sixth. Jimmy Voaklander pitched four strong innings before giving way to Kyle Anderson. Anderson was able to close out the charging Bulldogs to hold on for his third victory of the season. The Mavericks move to 8-3 on the season and 1-0 in the North County Tournament. They will play again at Rancho Buena Vista on Friday at 3:15.image
