Mavericks Lose to Mt. Carmel

The Mt. Carmel Sundevils capitalized on three crucial Maverick errors to gain their first league victory 6-4. In the third inning Kyle Anderson committed a throwing error that led to three uneraned runs. The Mavericks countered with two in the top half to cut the lead to 3-2. The Sundevils then scored again in the fourth to move their lead to 4-2. In the sixth the Mavericks dropped a routine fly ball in the infield that led to two more unearned runs giving the Sundevils a 6-2 lead. The Mavericks were able to fight back in the top of the seventh to score twice but were unable to push any more across. With the loss the MAvericks fall to 4-2 in league and 14-7 overall. The Mavericks play again on 4/26 at home against Torrey Pines.

Lowell Pitches Mavs by Rancho Bernardo

Behind the solid pitching of Russ Lowell the Mavericks were able to beat Rancho Bernardo 1-0. Coming into the game the Broncos were ranked #1 in San Diego County and #2 in the state. In the complete game effort Lowell struck out 5, walked 5, and allowed three hits. With the victory Lowell's record moves to 4-2 on the season. The Mavericks were able to score the lone run of the game in the second inning. Cole Duccey walked, Grant Allgire singled moving Duccey to third, and Michael Ramirez knocked in Duccey on a fielders choice. The Broncos threatened in the third and fourth. In the third the Broncos left the bases loaded when Lowell got Wilson to line out to right. In the fourth, the Broncos loaded the bases again with no outs. Lowell then struck out the first hitter and induced a 6-4-3 double play ball. With the victory the Mavericks move their record to 14-6, and 4-1 in league.

Mavs Lose First League Game

On Saturday the Mavericks lost there first league contest to Poway 4-1. Behind an excellent pitching performance by Kyle Anderson (5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER). The Mavericks continued to struggle at the plate collecting four hits. With the loss the Mavericks move their record to 12-6, 2-1. They will play again Tuesday at Westview 3:30.
