LA COSTA CANYON HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Mavs win a close one, edging out Mt. Carmel 7-6. Jimmy Pierce hit a solo homer in the 4th, and Tyler Wells and Graham Nancarrow each went 2 for 3. Michael Cruz got the win, Tyler Korn came in for the save in the 7th.

Cole Ducey's three doubles, a single and 2 RBIs led the Mavericks offensively to a win. Jimmy Pierce also contributed with three singles and 1 RBI.

Mavs lose 4-1. Tyler Wells got an RBI hit in the 1st to put the Mavericks temporarily in front.The Falcons scored all four runs in the bottom of the first. Chris Brookey limited them to only one hit and no runs after the first. Jimmy Pierce just missed a 3-run home run in the 5th as his high fly ball was caught by the center fielder with his back against the fence. Graham Nancarrow threw one runner out at 2nd trying to steal.

The Mavs started out strong offensively in the first inning as Grant Allgire doubled to drive in Jimmy Pierce. Chris Brookey doubled to drive in Allgire, Cole Ducey and Rusty Leedy. Michael Cruz threw four strong innings with a solid defense behind him. Michael Snider and Tyler Korn pitched in relief. Westview tied the game in the fifth and took the lead in the 7th. The Mavs rallied but weren’t able to score in the bottom of the 7th.
