Nats and White Sox Rained Out

Posted by Steve Elliott at Jul 11, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Tuesday night's game pitting the Nats and White Sox was rained out.   No make up date has been set.
Though the Northeastern Baseball League showed its prowess in Friday's 11-6 All Star Game victory, several West Allis Nationals had strong individual performances. Prior to the game, a Home Run Derby was held. Jeff Donovan and Mike Kenseth represented the Nationals. Kenseth's two homers in the first round advanced him the the final four, but Manitowoc's powerful Eric Schroeder took over from there. His 5 second round homers blew away the field and Kenseth had to settle for second place. Jeff Donovan and Tom Donovan led the Langsdorf All Stars with two hits each. One of Jeff's two doubles nearly left the park. Mike Kenseth added a knock for the Langsdorf All Stars, as well. Jim Jungbauer and Greg Donovan did not fare as well on the hill. Each gave up 4 runs, 2 walks, and 2 hit batsmen in 2 innings of work.

Rod Beck, Honorary National - 1968-2007

After games, Beck and several Cubs teammates would often sit around drinking beer and smoking cigarettes as they talked baseball. "You don't see that anymore," Wood said. "Really haven't seen a whole lot of it since he left. That's part of the old-school mentality. You hang around and you have a few beers and talk about the game and talk about mistakes you made, talk about good things you did and learn from each other." image
