Nats Split with White Sox
The West Allis Nationals jumped to a 6-0 first inning lead in route to an 8-1 victory in game one of Saturday's DH vs. the West Allis White Sox. Emergency starter Curt Pryal was strong throwing a complete game 5 hitter with 6 strikeouts and no walks. Kyle Kalkopf, Dean Mlachnik, and Jimmy Jungbauer had 2 RBI's each.
Game two's outcome was quite different. Down 1-0 in the 5th, Dean Mlachnik ripped a triple to right to score two and the locals took a 2-1 lead. An RBI single by Dan Putnam in the next frame gave the Nats a 3-1 edge, but that would prove to be short lived.
In the sixth the White Sox strung together three successive singles against Nationals starter Alex Kingsley. With one out, Kingsley walked in the White Sox second run after a 12 pitch battle with Marcus Meier. The next hitter hit a ground ball to short for what appeared to be another out, but the ball got through allowing two more runs to score and the White Sox took a 4-3 lead.
The Nationals got the tying run to third in the final inning but couldn't plate him, settling for a split on the day.
Next up are the Racine Kiwanis on Tuesday night at Zirkel Field. First pitch is set for 7:30pm.
Langsdorf All Stars fall to NE WI All Stars
The Langsdorf League of SE WI All Stars fell 4-1 to the NE WI All Stars on Friday night despite strong pitching efforts from two Nationals.
Jim Jungbauer went 6 innings, allowing only one earned run, while Danny Putnam threw a scoreless 8th.
Brandon Hall reached base twice in the contest, but was unable to score as the Langsdorf League offense struggled with runners in scoring position.
