The Langsdorf All Stars knocked out 14 hits and took advantage of some Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League's defensive miscues en route to a decisive 13-1 victory in the two leagues' annual All Star matchup.

West Allis' Curt Pryal was named the game's MVP with 2 hits, including a double, 2 RBI, and an inning of scoreless relief.   Northern Illinois' Alex Letto won the Home Run Derby.  Jimmy Jungbauer collected a single and Sam Hammer a double in the contest.   Kyle Kalkopf, Adam Karas, and Brian Huntzinger each stole a base.   Dillion Engel pitched an inning of scoreless relief.

Nats Edge Racine

Posted by Steve Elliott at Jul 2, 2013 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Jared Stengel had three hits, including two doubles, and 2 RBI and Ralph Kalkopf and Nick Lingvay added three knocks each as the Nationals scored a run late to steal a 7-6 victory in Racine Tuesday night.

With the score tied at 6-6 in the ninth, Stengel singled with one out.  Pinch hitter Jimmy Jungbauer then followed with a single to left that moved Stengel to third.   With Nick Lingvay at the plate, Racine's pitcher unleashed a wild pitch which allowed Stengel to score the lead run.

From there the Nationals' bullpen completed the job.   Matt Soderlund earned the save with a scoreless ninth after Dylan Engel and Bobby Herrick had kept the Kiwanis hitters at bay for the three previous innings.

Next up for the Nationals are the Sheboygan A's on Saturday at noon at UW - Milwaukee's home field, Aaron Park.

Nats Split with Kenosha Kings

Posted by Steve Elliott at Jun 29, 2013 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

After successive rainouts on Thursday and Friday, the Nationals were back in action on Saturday versus the league leading Kenosha Kings at historic Simmons Field in Kenosha.

In game one, Jimmy Jungbauer allowed only two hits and one run in a 2-1 victory.  Jungbauer struck out 3 and walked 2 while going the distance.    Mike Merritt and Adam Karas drove in the only two runs with sacrifices.   Brian Huntzinger led the team with 2 knocks, including a double.

The Nats had their chances in game two, as well, but failed to execute in a couple of sacrifice situations and dropped that tilt by a score of 3-1.   Andrew Arenson threw five strong innings, allowing no earned runs on four hits while striking out 4.

Next up for the Nationals are the Racine Kiwanis on Tuesday night at Horlick Field in Racine.   First pitch is set for 7:30pm.
