Late Rally Downs Nats

Posted by Steve Elliott at Jul 12, 2013 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The Nationals forfeited a 3-0 lead late on Friday, losing 4-3 in the first game of the 2nd Annual Langsdorf Invitational Tournament.

Kyle Kalkopf got the Nats on the board first with a third inning sac fly, scoring Adam Karas who had singled earlier in the inning.  Sam Hammer later doubled home Dillion Engel and the Nats had a 2-0 lead.

The Nats added another tally in the fifth.  Dillion Engel led off with a double, was sacrificed to third by Kyle Kalkopf and scored on a single by Jimmy Jungbauer.

At that point the game appeared well in hand.  Starter Dillion Engel finished his fifth shutout inning and accumulated his 7th strikeout before being lifted.

Hit batsmen generated rallies for the Angels in the 6th and 7th innings before the Angels pushed across the winning run on a bang bang infield to end the game.
