News from the Building Legends Booster Club

Hello All and welcome back to another season of Legends Baseball!

For those of you who are new to our program my name is Eric Armstrong, President of the Building Legends Booster Club (BLBC). Myself and other volunteers run this non-profit organization separate of Legends Baseball which focuses on providing additional resources and platforms to continuously enhance the overall experience, playing, and training opportunities of the Legends Baseball program. We formally meet once monthly but are constantly working on projects almost daily as volunteers. This experience has been very rewarding for me and the other members and we are pleased to announce that we are looking for two new individuals to join the Building Legends Booster Club. If you are interested in an open position or finding out more information please let me know by responding to this email or sending our group an email at LB1BoosterClub@gmail.com or message us on Facebook.
*Please also be aware that there are three different Legends entities that will routinely communicate with you.
1. Building Legends Booster Club (Fundraising Activities)
2. Legends Baseball (Baseball Activities)
3. Legends Ballpark (Business Facility for Playing & Training Activities)
Each entity is different and exists for different purposes. If there is ever a time something seems confusing, please let us know and I would be happy to help explain.

A few updates from our Summer Meetings:
During the Spring 2019 season, among many other things, teams were provided between $750-$1750 for additional training, games, and tournaments. Many teams used this funding to enhance their quality of play or travel to destination tournaments. This funding came from the two mandatory fundraisers (Fall Beef & Beer / Winter Superbowl Blocks). Many teams also did their own fundraisers which provided even more resources for the players. We couldn’t be prouder of our coaches, families, and players for working so hard to provide such memorable experiences and advanced training opportunities for the kids.

This fall we will be altering the Beef & Beer event slightly. The event will be held at a more suitable venue and be more all inclusive for food & drink. Just as in the past, each player will be required to sell tickets to the event. This year each team will be required to create at least 2 large prize baskets to be auctioned off, everyone must contribute to the baskets. This event location and date (likely October 18) will be finalized and confirmed prior to the next BLBC meeting on Sunday September 8th @ 7pm. More details will be released at that time.

Unless a coach has allocated remaining Spring 19’ money for fall 19/ spring 20’ (which required approval from the board), any unused team funding from the Spring 2019 will be reassigned back into the BLBC general fund account. Moving forward, all fundraising will be placed into the following three buckets for each team with the below percentages (percentages reviewable annually):
50% – Team General Fund – to be used at head coach’s discretion with Board approval.
25% – Collegiate Scholarships
25% – Cooperstown Trip @ 12u (7u-12u)
OR
25% – College Visits/Camps/Showcases (13u-17u+)

There are a lot of positive changes occurring right now with the hopeful addition of new board members, the change in the Beef & Beer event, and the reclassification of funds per team; all in addition to several teams already actively running team specific fundraisers, oh and, practices and games! Throughout September we will be implementing these changes.

More details, as well as a follow up message, will be provided at the next Booster Club meeting on Sunday September 8th @ 7pm. We know everyone is busy but we hope that you and your coaches will join us in our efforts to continuously provide first class experiences and training for the teams.

We will communicate throughout the year mostly through TeamPages but also through the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/legendsboosterclub2018/

Please let us know if you are interested in joining the board or have any questions.

Looking forward to working with new board members and meeting new Legend’s families.
