The 6th grade boy’s soccer team had an outstanding year! With a record of 5-2, the boys scored 27 goals & allowed 13. This season the boys developed their individual skills along with understanding the fundamentals of defensive team shape, work ethic & most importantly having harnessed their ability to focus on their education while having a strenuous athletic agenda. Bus trips, home games under the lights, goals, wins, and pep talks are all things they’ll probably look back on and smile. However, if there is one thing these boys can take with them moving forward is that they understand that they possess the keys to their future! Nothing will be given as you boys grow into adulthood, but if you work hard enough & don’t give up on your goals & dreams, all things are possible.

Great job this year boys! Good luck to you & I will be seeing you in the halls this spring…

This year has been a great developmental year for our 6th grade soccer program. The boys have been learning how to become true student-athletes! They truly put the effort in becoming students before athlete. Grades have been improving & their teachers are expressing how the team is beginning to show progress in multiple areas in their studies!

On the field, the boys are doing extremely well! All 22 boys are playing a half a game & starting to understand defensive shape, team work, communication & tactical strategies! Or practice focus mainly on technical work such as dribbling, passing, shooting & my favorite, conditioning.

Our team has won two games & lost one. We have scored 14 goals & only allowed two! The second half of the season should be just great as the first.

Last year the boy’s varsity soccer team competed and earned a state championship! This year, Village School has decided to continue developing their soccer program as a whole by adding a 6th grade team. The boys will play in seven games and have multiple inter squad scrimmages and against the 7th grade boys. This year’s team is made of 23 players. The teams will be divided into two evenly match teams and all of them will play at least a half per game. With three goalies on the team, two will play a half and the third will be a field substitute. At the 6th grade level we will be developing the student athletes into just that, student athletes. Managing practices, games, accountability, work ethic, team first concept and most importantly grades!

Each player will play in a variety of positions. Our goal as a school is to develop these students athletes soccer IQ. Players will be playing in multiple positions to help develop their understanding of the game as a whole and seeing the game from different perspectives. Practices will include but not limited to: technical work, defensive positioning as an individual and team, dribbling, passing, shooting, set pieces, detailed communication, combination plays, using non dominate foot and many other soccer intangibles!
