I could not be more proud of the hard work and determination that these 6th grade girls displayed this season. We continued to progress and get better each game and their dedication to the team really showed. We ended with a winning season of 5-2, and also winning the silver bracket at our tournament we held here at Village. All of the girls were so excited to be at practice day in and day out. It was truly awesome to be apart of such an enthusiastic team! I am so thankful for the support and encouragement from our parents, I could not have done it without them!

On Friday, October 2nd, the entire Village School volleyball program will be traveling to watch one of their own, Lauren Fernandez-Miller, play for her new school. Last Spring, Lauren received an athletic scholarship to St. Thomas University to continue playing the sport she loves. Lauren was a student at The Village School her entire life. She has given countless hours back to The Village School by working volleyball camps, and she still shows up to support the program since she has graduated. As a freshman, Lauren is already a key contributor to the St. Thomas University volleyball team. She is top 10 in her conference in multiple statistical categories. St. Thomas University has had a great start to their season, and Lauren’s excellent play has played an important part in her team’s success.

This Friday will be a special moment for Coach Klausmeyer, the coaching staff, and the entire volleyball program. All of our current players have been positively impacted by Lauren. Some have had the pleasure of being her teammate. Some have had the pleasure of watching her play. Some have had the pleasure of being coached by her at camp. This Friday, when St. Thomas University takes on Our Lady of the Lake, the program will have the opportunity to cheer her on, and show our appreciation for who she is as a person, and appreciate her ability on the court.

Game time is set for Friday, October 2nd, at 6:00pm.

Go Lauren!

The girls displayed great teamwork and tremendous skill as they won in two straight games. Coach Marchese was so proud of the girls attitude and support of each other. “The girls were very nervous, but in the end they showed great poise and were able to put together a complete match to secure the win.” The 6th Grade Lady Vikings are scheduled to have their Fun Day tournament on September 19th.
