There is no practice today (8/11) since everyday practice begins tomorrow Aug 12th at 6 PM at the CHS track.
Thurs practice will be at Crooked Creek Park so that everyone will have a chance to run the course prior to Fridays 6:30 AM time trials at Crooked Creek Park. Race will begin promptly at 7 AM. Only those athletes who can run 3 miles without walking will run the time trials.
The Coaches Cross Country poll was released this week and both the boys and girls were ranked 3rd in AAA in the preseason poll. The girls were also ranked 7th in the all classification poll. We have a great deal of work to do to deserve that ranking and Coach Hines and I are excited to get started.
With the exception of this Friday morning practice all practices will be at 6PM until school begins then we will practice at 4:15PM. Practices with the exceptions mentioned above will be at CHS.
The bus situation has some good news and some bad news. Good news in that transportation from the middle school to CHS will be provided. I have already sent the names of current middle school runners(those who have been to summer workouts and submitted all paperworkt)to the middle school. The athletes who ride the bus to CHS will have a special tag on their id card that allows them on the bus- no tag then no bus.
The bad news is that there is even a greater shortage of bus drivers available this year than last so we will be limited to one bus for away meets. This is something that really disappoints me because we will have to limit the number of athletes for away meets. The top 21 boys and 21 girls will qualify to ride the bus to away meets. If an athlete does not qualify a parent can drive them to the meet. Coach Ricks who agreed to help us out as a bus driver contacted district transportation a year ago to go through bus driver training but it will be this fall before it could be worked out so we are in the same situation as last year.
The meet schedule is on the CHS website but I just received information today that the Lexington County meet location has been changed to Gilbert due to construction at Lexington High. Please make note of that change. That meet is on Sept 2.
