CSSA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
February 06, 2017
Present: Dewey Hom, Warren Butler, Ray Deluca, Mike Parson, Scott Parrish, Lee Molway, Randy Bergman, Jerry Bohacek
Absent: Ron O’Donnell
Dewey Hom calls meeting to order at 6:45
Topics Discussed:
• A presentation was made to the board by a new supplier for Jerseys. The Jerseys are of higher quality than we now receive and do not have the 3-button collar. The Moisture Wicking Athletic Shirts are at a price point lower than what we are currently paying. A decision was not made at this meeting.
• League schedules and Sponsor info flyer will be made into two separate handout publications. This year we are adding additional sponsors that are CSSA and not team specific.
• Scott Parrish will be working with the scorekeepers on a simplified tablet process. There is a need for additional score keepers. If interested, please contact Scott Parrish.
• Team Managers – Collection of fees, Waiver/Registration sheets (new, revised, or updated.) A player must write a separate check for each team they are playing on and needs to be turned into that team manager. Managers are to create a list and record the players name and check number and then give all to the league directors. Players are not to combine fees on one check for multiple leagues. This information will be on “Master List” compiled by Anne Ryan. The BOB will be discussing this at the managers meeting at the February mangers meeting Saturday the 11th at approximately 3:30 pm at Hobgood park.
• Maintenance of a “Master Data Base” for BOD of CSSA will done. This will allow for various data sorts for BOD, League Directors and often Coaches.
• To keep order at the evaluations it has been decided to have the players fill out their forms in the dugout. Tryout vest will be issued and number recorded on the waiver form. A new player without ID will be asked to produce ID before being allowed to play. If a large whiteboard is obtained, the name, day of choice, position and age will be posted. If no whiteboard is available, this same information will be announced. Please pay attention to get the information you need.
• Board members are posting roadside signs around the area advertising the CSSA tryouts.
• Motion made at last meeting to allow members turning 49 in current year to play be extended one more year. This will help recruiting and maintain a strong American and Masters league. Vote 7 – 0 in favor.
• Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ray DeLuca and Scott Parrish seconded the motion. Approved by all.
• Next meeting March 6th 2017 at Gameday. 6:30 PM.

Treasures Report: Beginning balance-$6,696.88 Ending balance-$3,260.66
Topics Discussed:
• CRPA Award Banquet-Congratulations to Ray Deluca on his awards. • Evaluations – February 11 and 12 2:00pm Hobgood Park February 18 and 19 – 2:00pm Hobgood Park • Softballs for spring have been received. • Umpires – General discussion continued from previous 3 meetings about whether to stay with NGAUA or go with Mike’s group. Options are to stay with NGAUA, pay the bonus game, or go with Mike’s group where there will be 1 head umpire and 1 base umpire. Base umpire will only make calls on the pitching net and at 2nd base. Going with Mike’s group will save the league approximately $700.00 the first year and $1,800.00 the 2nd year. After much discussion it was voted on and Mike’s group received 4 votes and NGAUA received 3 votes. • Sponsors – Ray will make sure all are contacted about money due. • Age requirements – Mike Parson suggested extending the turn 49 year age requirement for 1 more year to help with recruitment. It received heavy support and will be voted on at the next meeting. • Plaques – After much league feedback, Dewey suggested getting better plaques and just get one for the 1st place teams only. They will be awarded at the end of each season. This also received heavy support. • Next meeting –February 6, 2017 – GameDay Grille -6:30pm

To: Bill Kemp <ckemp2@windstream.net>
Hi Bill,
It has been hard to get around to thanking so many people for their kind words, thoughts and prayers. I was blown away by the support we received and how many came for the funeral.
While I would like to thank each person separately, I am much too lazy to write all those notes! If you could pass along our deep appreciation for all of the love and support shown us by everyone at CSSA.
On behalf of the Woltering family, Thank You !
Mike

FELLOW CSSA PLAYERS & COACHES;
It is with my deepest sympathy that I share the news of John Toth’s death. John was appropriately 67 years old and died after a heart attack today.
John had a history of some heart problems and had a heart attack about 6 years ago then came back and played several more years. John played in the American League (Sosesbees, Bojangles, ElRanchero, and Bedoe’s Bar & Grille) from approximately 2004-2015 as a shortstop, 2B, and pitcher.
Please include John and his family in your prayers.
Thank You, Gary Bedoe
