“In Sync”

Posted by Jeffersonville Football at Sep 9, 2012 7:01PM PDT

This great game requires a team to be “in Sync” in order to maintain optimal performance. The last two games, Seymour and BNL, we maintained a high level of this throughout the game. Friday night’s game was an exception. It is not that we played bad. We had a shutout going and held a team to under 180 yards of total offence for much of the game. We also put plenty of first half points on the board too. Our players knew at halftime what we had to do to correct the situations that needed addressed. Basically, we fixed them in the locker room and came out and played pretty well in the 2nd half. After the game, we knew what we did well and what we have to improve come Monday ,and the coming weeks. I believe we are going to continue to improve as we continue to grow.
Problem! Our team was confident that we were going to make it 38 straight against Madison. We prepared just like normal with the exception of Monday off. Our boys were ready to go but we also were missing one element, experience of being a BIG FAVORITE! We look forward to our performances on Friday nights but at times we take different approaches depending on our opponents. Sometimes in sports we play games just to get through them. It is strange dynamic, as coaches, sometimes we can get more out of them in a practice than we can on game night. We will get better with experience on playing through situations like these. We need to recognize that we need to play with the same standard and expectations no matter who we play. In coaching, and playing a somewhat “lesser opponent” this is easier said than done!
As we continue this regular season march, with high expectations and standards that we have established, we must not lose our focus on the goal of playing our best football on week 10. We have to improve our game in many areas, in order to maintain a legitimate shot of reaching our goal of playing in November. Our team will continue to strive to get better each and every week as we continue to add new faces and often change roles within our team and locker room. This growth and commitment to one another will only make US better and hopefully you will see continued improvement throughout the season.
In closing, Our Team did not need to be reminded of who we play Friday! In coaching, this is a good thing as we know where our focus will be this week. Hope to see you in the stands after the game as we sing our song at game’s end. We look forward to these Joyful occasions and moments but know it is in the preparations on weekdays, where games are won! We look forward to preparing them for this week’s test.

“Once in a Blue Moon”

Posted by Jeffersonville Football at Sep 2, 2012 1:47PM PDT

What a game Friday night. It was a draining and emotional experience by all whom participated I am sure. There were a tremendous amount of obstacles to overcome before and during the game. Turmoil seemed to surround the field. By game’s end, what a beautiful night it had become as we sang our school song with the student body. Victory at last over BNL! We had visualized singing this a few hours earlier in our team meeting before the game. This is a great traditions that we started last year and hope to sing regularly at all games that we win, home or away!

The season is still young, but we have been going steady since June 4th. Our team actions and play is indicative of the tremendous amount of hard work and effort we all have exerted this summer. Plus the returning players knowing the system and schemes helps a great deal. We are a much better team because of the work and time we have all committed for one another. As we come off this long Labor Day weekend break, let us continue to look forward to continued success that awaits us this season. As we often say, it is not the wins and losses that count, but the journey we take together that makes us one team. Our team looks forward to the goal of “Remember November”. It will take a special team in order to obtain this goal. Let’s aim high!

During the post game address, we all came to the realization that our season is 1/3 over. Six more regular season games to play before our 1st sectional game and opponent is determined. While we have much to look forward to in the coming weeks, we also have processed a tremendous amount emotion already that can be draining to all. As many of you know me, my character and core values, I ask that you stand firm and continue the support you have shown me and my family! I have been blessed and know that, “God’s Grace is sufficient for me…” You may also want to reference Galatians 1:10.
