Need you to review ASAP

Posted by Ignacio "Nacho" Ruiz at Jun 11, 2011 4:55PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Freshman Cougars…this will be your last oppertunity to make changes to the jersey order. Please review the list for what is being ordered for your son. Also…see attached message from our area coordinator…

Happy Friday…Head Coaches/Team Managers

You didn’t think I’d let the week come to an end without bugging you again did you?! :)

Anyway, Steve, our Equipment Manager, needs this list back ASAP for jersey ordering. Please see the attached updated sheet. Changes from the last sheet I sent you are in YELLOW. Please review your team and get back to me any additional changes or if you do not agree with a sizing change, let me know. Many of the jersey sizes were moved UP due to the fact that it is understandable that kids on the “verge” of the next size have or will probably gain some weight since they registered (our last recorded weight) by the time our first game rolls around. So, any of the kids on the cusp of the next size up I moved them up. Better to be a little too big than too small – is what I am hearing from the parents. However, with that being said, I will of course go with the Head Coaches/Team Managers opinion on any of the kids if you do not agree with the sizing I have changed.

Thank you.

Equipment Showcase Flyer

Posted by Ignacio "Nacho" Ruiz at Jun 8, 2011 12:14PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

See Flyer for details.

Please review the email below from Pam Rutherford regarding the football jerseys. See the attached list for your player’s weight. Let me know as soon as possible if the weight is the same or if you want me to turn in an updated weight for your son. If you see an “*” by your player, you can choose to go up a size because they are borderline.

Please get back to me as soon as possible on this…thanks!

-Audrey

(Begin Message from Pam Rutherford)

Also, it is important to note that according to Steve, our Equipment Manager, “the * means that the jersey size that is selected for that player could possibly go up one size if they need to.”
The Jersey’s are Alleson brand, which is the same kind we had two years ago. Although through a different vendor.

IMPORTANT LEAGUE/SEASON DETAILS:
1. Every athlete needs a physical before practices begin. You can find the form under the “documents” link (toward top of home page). Any health care provider can complete the form (physician, clinic, chiropractor, etc.). Physicals are to be turned in to head coaches. No football player or cheerleader may begin practicing until they have a physical clearing them on file with the head coach.
2. If you are on our payment plan, you MUST have FULL PAYMENT, in by May 15th. Late fees apply to all registrations after June 1st, including those who have not paid in full by June 1st. For registration payment issues, contact registration@gosyfl.com

3. Equipment for football players will be handed out in mid July. Watch the website for schedules. There is a $25 equipment deposit fee due at the time equipment is picked up, which must be paid by cash, check, or money order (no waivers available).

4. Practices will start the week of July 25th. Coaches determine exact practice days and times. Weekend practices are prohibited. You should hear from your coach by early July, and if you haven’t, you should contact either the football director (fbdirector@gosyfl.com) or the cheer director (cheerdirector@gosyfl.com).

5. The annual SYFL Experience will be August 13th in Fallon, Nevada. This is a fun-filled day of league-wide scrimmages that include our friends from outlying areas. Football players are weighed in this day. This is a MANDATORY event.

6. Games will begin August 27th and proceed weekly thereafter through October 22nd which is the last game of the regular season. Play-offs commence October 29th and continue through November 12th when the Championship games will be played. It is possible that the Championship games will be followed by the Cal-Nevada Championship games on November 19th in some divisions (details not yet determined). Our league offers opportunities to compete with outlying areas, which requires some travel (including cheer).

7. It takes a great deal of time to compile the game schedule, which cannot even be started until team rosters are certified and high school fields are made available. The schedule will be posted on the website once it has been completed, which will not likely be until mid-August. Please be patient.

8. The football cheerleader’s local competition will be held November 6th at the Reno/Sparks Convention Center. Cheerleader participation is mandatory for this event.

9. The SYFL adheres to a “no pass, no play” rule. Grades will be checked TWICE during the season (week 4, and just before playoffs for football/competition for cheer).

10. A “Winter Classic” game is anticipated in December. Details will be released as they are made available.

Once open registration has ended and rosters have been certified, you will hear from your coach, likely late June/early July. Other information will be available on the main website, and may also be available on individual camp or team websites accessed through the main website.
