2018 Summer Drop-In Hockey information:

The below dates are club-run drop-in sessions of pick-up hockey. Both session are co-ed and players should be registered with Field Hockey BC for insurance purposes. Depending on numbers, players will be split by an appropriate experience level. Beginners are welcome.

SAILORS FHC SUMMER DROP IN
Dates: Tuesdays (July 3 – Aug 28)
Time: 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Cost: $5.00 per player (must pay before playing)
Age: 14 and up

REBELS FHC SUMMER DROP IN
Dates: Thursdays (July 5-August 30)
Time : 7-8:30 pm
Cost: $5/session or $30 for the whole summer (9 sessions total)

The Canadian women’s national senior squad will wrap up their two-week training camp in Victoria with their second and last scrimmage of the month. This won’t be the last of international level competition you will be able to see in Victoria as the team hopes to have a Chile development team and Scotland here before the Fall.

You can come watch the intra-squad game with the below details:

Following the Field Hockey BC men’s Train to Compete Tournament April 13-15, three Victoria players were named to BC teams for this summer.

Rebels forward Johnny Jacoby made the top team, the BC Rams, while Rebels midfielder Ryan Knight and Tigers forward Sahjun Sehmi were named to the BC Lions.

Marauders midfielder Sebastien Kum was named as one of the six reserves.

Teams will train beginning in May to prepare for the Field Hockey Canada U18 National Championships hosted mid-July in Toronto, Ont.

Field Hockey BC is now offering an online version of our Community Umpire Course. The course is open to FHBC Members for $25 (previously $60) and consists of a series of lessons and practice questions designed to prepare you for the final quiz.

Requirements for candidates remain the same in that will need a grade of 75% or higher in order to pass the course. The first registration window is now open until the end of the Junior League season, with more to follow in the coming months. The success in this online offering is a first step in Field Hockey BC’s commitment to facilitate future umpire, coaching and development courses.

The current course is available to those interested in taking the first steps towards fulfilling the earliest of rated umpire requirements, umpires that desire a refresher, and umpires with expired certifications.
