COACH NOTES

Posted by Timmins Flyers U18 A Hockey Team at Apr 8, 2020 3:57PM PDT

Hello all past, present and potential members of the Timmins Flyers family!

I would like to begin by thanking both Kim Barney and the Timmins Minor Hockey Association for the opportunity to be the Head Coach of the Flyers for the 2020-21 season. Having the chance to continue the traditions that have been established over the last 20 years will be one of the priorities to ensuring a successful season both on and off the ice for our team.

COVID-19 certainly put an abrupt end to everyones 2019-20 season and that fact alone should provide ample motivation for everyone involved in Minor Hockey to make next season the best one they possibly can. Although this cloud may continue to hang over us for the next little bit; this additional time at home is allowing for the Team Staff to come into the season well prepared to have the Flyers be as competitive as possible once the ice does return.

This is also a great time for any 2003-2005 born players who are considering trying out, to establish a goal for themselves; what they hope to accomplish once that time comes and if necessary, implement steps from now until August that will help them achieve those goals.

The Timmins Flyers organization is looking forward to when that time comes and seeing both old and new faces on the ice. Until such time, please stay safe and enjoy the time away from the rink.

Should you have any questions related to the upcoming season, please do not hesitate to e-mail me at timminsflyers@gmail.com

Regards,
Jason

To Coaches, Manager, Parents, Players and supporters

It is with some sadness that I announce that after 20 + years I will be leaving the Timmins Flyers family.
This has been a difficult decision and I have thought long and hard on this for the past 2 years trying to find the right time and the best suited opportunity for the Timmins Flyers and the longevity for the team.
As such I have arranged for the Timmins Minor Hockey Association to have the Timmins Flyers Midget A hockey team, become part of their organization.
This has been a difficult time for me as I have seen the Flyers grow to become one of the outstanding teams in our area and within the Timmins Midget Hockey League.
Jason Martin will be taking on the role of Head Coach for the upcoming 2020 – 2021 season and I hope for the returning players/parents that he has your support and help wherever it is needed.
I want to thank all the wonderful people I have encountered over these past 20 + years and please know that I will always cherish the memories of those years.
I have had the opportunity to coach with and against some of the best players and coaches that have come out of our area and I wish each and everyone of you all the best.
To the players and coaches who have been part of the Flyers family I say thank you for putting up with me and my determined way to make the Flyers always a better team.
To all the people who supported our Food Bank fundraisers and our Charity Fund raisers, I say thank you, we would not have been successful without your support.
I will be assisting Jason and the TMHA for the upcoming season for tryouts and to ease the transition of the TMHA into the TMHL.
Thank you all and I hope to see you at the rink.
