BEGINNING WITH:
Mixed Field Hockey Festival (7-Aside)

Social / Recreational play for men and ladies in a mixed 7-a-side format with round robin play in two divisions. Halves will be 25 minutes and teams must have 3 male and 3 female players on the field at all times (goalie can be either male or female). We recognize that not all teams contacted will have affiliates of the opposite sex – if you don’t have enough men or ladies to make a team yourself, we will try to match up players to make a team for you. We are also working on a goalie pool for those teams that aren’t able to bring their own keeper.

All players welcome – Even if you aren’t a Rebel, we wouldn’t have made it this far without ya!
(All teams guaranteed at least 3 games)

Game times: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Venue: University of Victoria Field Hockey Turf (Gabriola Road across from the McKinnon Gym)
Cost: $100 per team. Cheques payable to the Rebels Sports Club.

Team Captains are responsible for verifying that players are currently registered with Field Hockey BC and may be asked for the membership number of their players.

Rebels Old-timers Game

For Rebels not up to the rigour of festival play but still wanting to hit the ball with old friends.

Game time: 4:30 p.m.
Venue: University of Victoria All Weather Turf (rubberized turf beside the Field Hockey Turf)
Cost: Hosted by the Rebels at no cost to players – spare sticks will be available but you’re on your own for other equipment.

All festival players, Rebels past & present and their guests are invited to socialize together immediately following the final game.

Field Hockey Canada and Field Hockey BC are proud to host the Senior National Field Hockey Championships for both Men and Women at UVic Vikes Field from Wednesday, June 30 to Sunday July 4, 2010.

The women’s competition features four BC teams including the BC Island, BC Mainland, BC U18 White and BC U18 Blue. Several of your top island athletes will be competing including island senior national team athletes Robyn Pendleton, Katie Collison, Ali Lee and Diana Roemer. Junior national team island stars include Maddie Secco, Sarah Keglowitsch, Bridget McGillivray, Kyla Pronk, Jaymie Tucker and Zoe Berkey. Also competing are teams from Alberta, Ontario and PEI.

The men’s competition features only two BC teams – the Senior and U18 teams. The Senior team is composed entirely of national team members including island product Mark Erickson. Also competing in the men’s division are teams from the USA, Alberta and Ontario.

Games begin 10:00am this Wednesday with the official Opening ceremonies occurring at 11:30am. Games will proceed from then until Sunday afternoon where the gold medal games will wrap up the tournament.

The Sailors Field Hockey Club of Victoria, BC is proud to show their support in two of their club athletes (Ali Lee and Robyn Pendleton) that are competing at the International level with Canada and at Senior Nationals for BC. In support of these two athletes, the Sailors Field Hockey Club will be selling t-shirts to help them raise money in order to reach their fundraising goals. Limited numbers of shirts are available so, if you would like to purchase one in advance please e-mail alilee05@gmail.com with your t-shirt size and colour preference.

The Rebels Sports Club will be hosting DROP-IN FIELD HOCKEY through the summer at the UVIC artificial turf field. It is recreational with all levels of play welcome using a mixed ladies and men drop-in format – we just divide up the sticks and play either a full field or 2 seven-a-side games (depending on how many show up that night).

DATES: Monday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 beginning June 28 until August 30th except August 2nd (BC Day Holiday)

COST: $5 per session or $30 for the entire summer
