Island Wildcats looking for funding!

Posted by Ali Baggott at Aug 21, 2012 7:56PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

In the fall of 2012, Vancouver Island will have a new team representing them. VILFHA is proud to announce the formation of a brand new Premier women’s field hockey team that will compete in the Vancouver Premier League, arugably one of the highest divisions of play in the country outside of the national team and university programs.

Kirby’s Source for Sports presents the “Island Wildcats” who will be traveling to and from the mainland to compete in a set amount of tournaments and regular season games this year as they build their staff structure and overall operation strategies.

The team will largely consist of former university and national team members, as well as developing high performance players from the B.C. Under-18 and Under 15 programs. Some of the members on the team will include UVic’s Katie Rushton, Natalie Wise and Ali Lee, as well as Alberta’s Bunny Hughes and UBC’s Kira Graham. Team B.C. Under-18 National gold medalists Claire Seeliger, of Duncan, Gillian Kirkpatrick, Kristina Walters-Shumka and Shinai Sorenson, of Victoria, will also be competing on the squad.

The team’s first home opener is on September 15th at 12:30 p.m. at UVic’s artificial turf field.

The Wildcats are on the hunt for YOUR support! The team will make their official announcement in a full page advertorial of the Times Colonist the week of their home opener and are looking to sell business card advertisements as part of their fundraising.

The cost is $175.00 for you or your business.

Superleague Update for January 29th

Posted by Leo Smyth at Feb 3, 2012 3:07PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Hello All,
I have attached the scored, standings and scorers table from our first weekend. So far it looks like the teams are evenly matched. You may notice that all the scorers have not been represented in the scorers table. This is because they either have not paid or they were not written down on the score sheets.

As the superbowl is this Sunday we will be accelerating the schedule in an attempt to accomodate NFL fans. I expect that we will finish a little after 3:00.

See you guys on Sunday,
Leo
