This week the University of Victoria rolled out a new process to deal with field closures and weather cancellations. They will be updating a page on their website for everyone to see. This eliminates the mass amount of communication for third-party groups and everyone can check the field status from home on their own similar to how the soccer groups do it.

The link is:

Note: When the fields are closed by the University this is not up for discussion or debate.

Canada Masters Hockey is a new national initiative for hockey players over the age of thirty-five. The program, which was launched in May 2015, will see National Masters teams competing in major International events as early as the Fall of 2015.

The Canada Masters Hockey initiative supports Field Hockey Canada’s strategic objective of developing and strengthening field hockey across the country and fostering a robust Canadian hockey family.

Engaging Master level athletes, the Canada Masters Hockey program will provide field hockey players of all ages the opportunity to continue participation in the sport at an international level.

Following successful participation from Canada’s Over-50 men and Over-50 women in the 2016 Masters World Cup in Australia, the focus is now on the 2018 Masters World Cup in Spain.

To express your interested in participating in future Canadian Masters Hockey competitions – including the 2018 Masters World Cup in Spain – click here:

Further information will be sent to those who express their interest when details become available. Registration ensures that players will get the latest information about all Masters Hockey opportunities in Canada. It is not a commitment to the World Cup, although FHC hopes that many people are interested in participating in this event
