RED SOX FOUNDATION PARTNER WITH MASSACHUSETTS LITTLE LEAGUE
TO SUPPORT ALL 200 LEAGUES THROUGHOUT COMMONWEALTH

Partnership Celebrates Little League’s 75th Anniversary

BOSTON, MA – In celebration of Little League’s 75th anniversary, the Red Sox Foundation today announced that they will partner with Massachusetts Little League to support all 200 leagues throughout the Commonwealth.

The partnership will help assist the 200 leagues with uniforms, support of their Massachusetts Little League Division Tournament in Beverly (taking place July 24-27), and the Massachusetts Little League Volunteer Coach of the Year award that will be presented at Fenway Park this year.

“We are proud to partner with Massachusetts Little League to support several initiatives to help commemorate their 75th anniversary, and expand on the important work the Red Sox Foundation has begun with Boston’s inner city youth,” said Red Sox Foundation Board Member Mike Egan.  “As a former little leaguer, I know how important playing baseball as a child can be to fostering a lifelong love for the game, and we look forward to helping the league pass along the invaluable lessons about teamwork and camaraderie that the sport imparts.”

The 200 Massachusetts Little Leagues serve 5,628 teams and approximately 67,500 children. It offers boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 18 the opportunity to play baseball and softball, regardless of their athletic ability. The league is made up of locally chartered programs that aim to provide access to the sport to all children.

“Massachusetts Little League is very excited with our new partnership with the Red Sox Foundation.” said Massachusetts Little League Board Member John Berardi. “The collaboration will help commemorate Little League’s 75th anniversary, and will have a tangible impact on the many little leaguers across the Commonwealth.”

The Red Sox Foundation was at the At Bat’s Training Center in Boxboro, MA, on Saturday, March 15, for a press event launching the new partnership. The three Red Sox World Series trophies were available to the public for photos.
