Little League Residency and School Attendance Eligibility

Beginning with the 2017 season, the following changes will be implemented for establishing residency and school attendance eligibility:

• A school issued report card or performance record will no longer be accepted to establish school attendance.

• Also, residence shall be established and supported by documents containing the full residence which includes parent(s) or guardian(s) name, street address, city, state and zip code information, dated or in force between February 1, 2016 (previous year) and February 1, 2017 (current year), from one or more documents from EACH of the three Groups outlined below:

Group I
1. Driver's License
2. School records
3. Vehicle records (i.e., registration, lease, etc.)
4. Employment records
5. Insurance documents

Group II
1. Welfare/child care records
2. Federal records (i.e., Federal Tax, Social Security, etc.)
3. State records
4. Local (municipal) records
5. Support payment records
6. Homeowner or tenant records
7. Military records

Group III
1. Voter's Registration
2. Utility bills (i.e., gas, electric, water/sewer, phone, mobile phone, heating, waste disposal)
3. Financial records
4. Medical records
5. Internet, cable, or satellite records

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Example - Three documents from the same Group (utility bill, cable bill, and bank statement) constitute only ONE document. Players who established "residence" or "school attendance" for regular season and/or tournament prior to the 2016-2017 season using the Player Verification Form, and can produce the form with proper proofs and signatures, will be grandfathered and will NOT need to complete a new Player Verification Form.

Final Tryouts Jan. 19

Posted by Ken Cicalo at Nov 7, 2016 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
It's Now Down To One...

One. As in one last chance to get signed up. As in one final day of tryouts.

We'll be back at Cadman on Saturday, January 19th for signups and our final assessments for Clairemont Hilltoppers' 63rd season of Little League baseball! If you haven't registered yet, we don't want you to miss out. We'll be there from 8:30-1:00 p.m., and want to help you get ready for another fun year.

All kids league age 7-13 will be trying out on that day (see below for exact times). If you are yet to sign up and your child is in that age group, plan to come 45 minutes ahead of their tryout time, so we can get all the paperwork done, get them warmed up and they'll be ready to go for their assessment. Because of the rain last Saturday, our tryout requirement is now that players just need to come to one tryout day.

Thanks to the generosity of our fine sponsors, we can again offer the biggest bargain in youth sports, with registration fees as low as just $68 per child! Yes, we’re still asking you to do our easy candy fundraiser or make a $60 buyout, but if you choose to sell three boxes of candy, you can really get your kid into a full season of fun, safe, Little League baseball for a net cost of only $68! Or, you can sell two boxes of candy and your registration fee is just $88. But don’t procrastinate, because once the candy is gone, you’ll have to pay a full $148 to sign up. New this year, we are also offering a sibling discount. If you sign up more than one child, the registration fee for each susbequent sibling is 50% OFF!

We will also collect a Volunteer Deposit of $50 per child up to $100. We will ask that you provide six hours of volunteer time for each child you have in the program. These hours can be accumulated by working in the snack bar (3 hrs per shift), umpiring (3 hrs per game), field maintenance, coaching, scorekeeping, team parents, helping with special events like Opening Day, and many other ways. Once you have volunteered your hours, your deposit will be returned. Look for the Volunteer table at signups for all the details.

Any child who will be 4-years-old by August 31, 2019 (but not yet 17-years-old), is eligible to play Little League Baseball this year. Come to registration with an original birth certificate for each child, along with proof of residency or school attendance (see info below). You will need to fill out an application and medical release for each player you sign up. To save time at signups, click on the “Handout” at the end of this article and look for “2019 Season Forms.” Download the application and medical release, fill them out, and bring them with you on January 5.

If you have questions about signups or need additional information, you can contact Player Agent Michelle Mendez (619-977-6018 • michholm7@yahoo.com), Player Agent Kristin Luck-Slay (480-358-5832 • mamaslay@gmail.com) or League Information Officer Ken Cicalo (619-889-9216 • KenC1313@yahoo.com).

Posted by Ken Cicalo at Apr 6, 2016 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

OPENING DAY IS ON!

OK, let's try this again. After a week's postponement due to weather, we are full go for this Saturday (March 9) to be our Opening Day, with exactly the schedule we had planned for March 2. This means TBall games at 7:45, all players and coaches lined up behind the Padres field at 8:45, ceremonies at 9:00, BBQ, jumpers, raffles, etc. Game schedule is what we had scheduled for March 2, including the one-hour Minors exhibitions.

Come early as this is always our biggest celebration day of the year. We are starting at 7:30, with donuts, coffee and breakfast burritos. After our TBall games, our great ceremony at 9:00 willl included raffels for the kids, music, special guests and all of the pageantry of Opening Day at Clairemont Hilltoppers.

After the ceremoney, we have a hreat BBQ, sponsored by Islands Restaurant, jumpers for the kids, and ballgames on all three fields the rest of the day. Make it a full day of fun for your family!

All games that are shown on your game schedules for March 9 are cancelled. Those TBall and Rookie games will not be made up. Farm, Minors and Intermediate games previously scheduled for March 9 do need to be made up. We are playing the schedule originally shown for March 2 (see below).

April 15 • Fowler Park

Big Fun at USD!

What a fun day for our Hilltoppers kids and families at the USD-St. Mary's game on April 16.

While USD lost a lopsided game, they were wonderful hosts as always, and big thanks to the coaches, players and staff who were so accommodating and generous to our kids. Hilltoppers players got to go down on the field for the pregame ceremony, throw out the first pitch, be batboys for the day, get a tour through the lockeroom and clubhouse areas, win raffles and introduce a USD batter over the P.A.

But congratulations to St. Mary's, who was paced by former Hilltoppers Ken Waldichuk on the mound, with Ken picking up his 6th win of the season. Scattering five hits over 6-2/3 innings, Ken walked just one while striking out six, continuing a dominating stretch of quality starts this season.

After the game, Ken and St. Mary's Head Coach Eric Valenzuela met with some of our kids, giving them great, encouraging messages, in addition to signing autographs and taking pictures. All in all, a great day to be a Hilltopper!
