News and Announcements

Capping an exciting 51st year of Clairemont Hilltoppers Little League play, division champions were determined, and three of the winners headed to Tournament of Champions play against other first place teams from District 32. In the Juniors division, the White Sox edged the Red Sox two hard-fought, nail-biting wins to claim their best-two-of-three playoff. The White Sox lost their first TOC game on Friday, June 22 in a very tight and exciting 3-2 decision in 9 innings against Mission Bay. In the Majors division, the Angels eked out first place in both halves of the season, to be named champs, and will advance to play in TOC game at Scripps Ranch Little League. They lost to a talented Coronado team in their first round game. In the Minors division, the Cardinals won two finals games against the runner-up A's to clinch the division title. Those two teams advanced to the finals with tight wins over the Giants and Cubs, respectively. The Cardinals won their first round TOC game against Rancho Penasquitos Central on June 20, before falling to eventual champion Scripps Ranch National two days later. Finally, in the Farm division, the Yankees squeaked out a 5-4 win in extra innings against the Rockies to win the division crown. The Yankees had topped the Mets in a slugfest in the semifinals, while the Rockies had a harrowing battle with the Orioles which lasted 10 innings, before the Rockies pulled out a 10-9 decision to advance to the finals. Congratulations to all of our 2007 teams. image

Clairemont Hilltoppers Host Great Tournament!

Posted by Ken Cicalo at May 7, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Twenty-three games on two fields in 19 days. That was the scenario facing our league as hosts of the 2011 District 32 Little League All-Star tournament.

Two years after hosting three tournaments, including one which launched Park View Little League toward its eventual World Championship, Clairemont Hilltoppers had the honor of hosting this tourney from June 25-July 13, the first step of the international process that thousands of teams go through each year on the road to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.

As tournament hosts, Hilltoppers welcomed 12 teams of 11- and 12-year-olds from around our district to play in this exciting double-elimination tournament. These are the top players in each area league, and the baseball played during All-Stars was both exciting and top-notch. Large crowds came to our fields to follow these games, and it was the committed effort of our league volunteers to provide all the field maintenance workers, scorekeepers, announcers, snack bar workers, raffle ticket sellers and more during this two-week period that made it all possible.

Comngratulations to Scripps Ranch American, winners of the tournament flag. They went on to reach the semifinals of the Section tournament as well, before dropping a heartbreaker to Encinitas National.

Many thanks to all of our volunteers who worked so tirelessly during the tournament. And congratulations to the following three volunteers who won our drawing for free registration for the 2012 season from among all the volunteers who worked our tourney:

John Pizzo • Dave Pursel • Connie Willis

Hilltoppers Kids Featured on KUSI

Posted by Ken Cicalo at Feb 25, 2007 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Eight Clairemot Hilltoppers kids had the chance to promote our league's Opening Day on "Good Morning San Diego," KUSI-TV 9/51's weekend morning show on Sunday, February 25. Jacob Keltner, Dylan Pursel, Adam DelColliano, Jacob Taylor, Stephen Roe, along with Brian, Grant and Colin Ruthenberg all had the chance to toss the ball around in front of the KUSI cameras that morning. The segment was a chance to promote the fact that Dave Scott and KUSI cameras will be live from Clairemont Hilltoppers Opening Day on Saturday, March 3rd. The kids had a chance to come into the KUSI studios and catch a glimpse of how live television looks and feels. To see just how they performed for the camera, go to the following website, or simply click on the headline to this story. http://www.kusi.com/news/goodmorning/6071421.html

Final Work Party

Posted by Mike Ruthenberg at Feb 24, 2007 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Final Work Party For
Opening Day Is Friday

On Friday, March 1 we will be doing one final clean-up and grooming to get ready for Opening Day. From 1-6 p.m. that afternoon come out and help us sweep, wash and give our complex the final shine it deserves.

We want to show all of San Diego that Clairemont Hilltoppers has the most beautiful youth baseball complex anywhere. When you come for Opening Day, you'll be able to stick out your chest a little and hold your head high, knowing that you helped to make us look spectacular.

So, cut out of work a little early on Friday, come after school, or just give us an hour in the evening. It will be time well spent to help bring a smile to all of our kids' faces on Opening Day.
