Used Baseball Gear Needed
Used Baseball Gear for Inner City Kids
As we begin the 2009 baseball season the need for used gear continues. This is our fourth year collecting gear and distributing to inner city kids in Oakland, Richmond and East Palo Alto. As a result of donations 600 kids have enjoyed the great game of baseball. There’s a need for mitts, gear-bags, bats, balls, helmets, cleats, jerseys, pants, catching gear, anything related to baseball. All gear no longer used by players or leagues will be put to use. All types of mitts including catcher’s and first basemen mitts are needed. Baseball Bats - Beginning in 2009 Little League enacted three changes regarding bats for games. Bats meeting these standards are needed for the leagues that can’t afford new gear.
- Ages 5-12 – All metal bats shall be printed with a B.P.F. of 1.15 or less.
Older bats not meeting these standards are still needed for practice.
Baseball shoes - If your player has outgrown his/hers, get them out of the closet and bring them to the fields on Opening Day, March 21. We will have a table for donations. These are way better than playing in tennis shoes! The Reward
Watching player’s eyes light up when they receive their first pair of cleats, a batting helmet, or a mitt says it all.
Please give these young people the joy of playing baseball.
ARPD Closed Field Hotline
Please call this number during the week to get the current field closure status if it has rained. On weekends, the President of Alameda Little League will make the decision and will make contact with the team managers so that they can advise their teams.
Thank you for your cooperaton.
