Urgent Response Needed for 26th Annual Indoor Classic - Flagstaff

26th Annual Indoor Classic Details:  
  • Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.  Track meet starts are 8:00am.
  • All athletes need to be at the track by 7:00am wearing Black and Red (No athlete should have on any other colors, including bra straps).
  • This is a great indoor meet and has participants from other states.  Everyone should try to attend.  Please note that there is no school on Monday, February 20th - Presidents Day. 
  • All athletes are eligible to participate in this meet. Majority of the team will go up on Saturday and stay overnight and some even stay until Monday as the meet ends late on Sunday.
  • Please email us at azcheetahs@yahoo.com if you need a room with Your Name, Arrival Date, Departure date, Phone Number, Child's Name.
We will be staying at Baymont Inn Flagstaff (was Fairfield Inn), 2005 South Milton Road ,  Flagstaff,  AZ 86001-0805. The room rate is $99 a night plus tax, includes a free breakfast.  
 
High Schoolers can and will participate in the meet. Please let me know as soon as possible if your high schooler will be competing in Flagstaff.
 
DO NOT CALL THE HOTEL TO RESERVE - Please send me an email.  You will be notified after the rooming list is complete when you can call.  All we obtained a discount and are under contract to use a certain number of rooms.  If you sign up for a room, please do not call and cancel or even worst just not show up because the team will be liable.  I need to know of all changes and/or decisions regarding rooms whether the room is confirmed on your credit card or not.

Please email us at azcheetahs@yahoo.com if you will need a room for this meet.  I need to know the following:

 

Your Name, Arrival Date, Departure date, Phone Number, Child's Name

 

If you are attending, but do not need a hotel room, please let me know via email.

 

If you are sharing a room I need to know.

Ride Sharing

Hello,

A few parent expressed to me that they needed a practice buddy meaning they need someone to drop off and they can pick up.

Anyone interested in this can please send me an email with your cross streets.  After I receive your locations, I will send an email to see if there is someone in your area to help.  I will connect you with another parent that is interested.

Ride sharing has always been successful.  We have never heard of anything going wrong. However, please note that ride sharing is not part of the Arizona Cheetahs program.  Therefore, you will assume full responsibility for all risks that may arise out of, or result from ride sharing.

A quick note from us regarding practice (Field & Saturday)

Hi guys,

We are calling a practice on Saturday - 1/21 to go over running in and staying in lanes during races.  If this is your first year please try your very best to attend this practice. We will be on the track at Chandler High.

Because of soccer games we will be on the field behind the swimming pool on the following days:

Tuesday - 1/16
Thursday - 1/19
Monday - 1/23
Tuesday - 1/24
Monday - 1/30

This ends the season and should be it this year as Chandler is in 8th place and will not be hosting any playoff games.  If anything changes you will be notified.

Our regular practice schedule is Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 5:30 pm.  We will be on the track on all days not listed above.

First Track Meet - January 28th at Westwood High School

Hello,

The first track meet will be on Saturday, January 28th at Westwood High School in Mesa at 9am... We need ALL athletes there by 8am.  You will receive an email of tips to help you prepare.  The 8 and under parents will do clerking.

All athletes should run in this developmental meet.  There will be no disqualifications in this meet and instructions will be given to kids.  Please note that your child will not be entered into the meet if we have not received some sort of payment and paperwork by January 23, 2017 unless you have contacted us.... no exceptions!!!

Entries are due to be turned in each Tuesday the week of a track meet.  In the case of this meet, I will be doing entries on Monday, January 23rd.  IF YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE RUNNING IN THIS MEET, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP.

We will not be wearing uniforms in the first 2 track meets.  If you have a uniform, please DO NOTwear it.  Please have your child wear black shorts or tights and a red shirt.  Preferably tight fitting or compression type wear.
 
 Most of the athletes will run the 100, 200, 400 with a few exceptions depending on age and if you are a distance runner.  Entry sheets will be sent out tonight after practice for review.
