12U Wildcats Victorious in Skokie

Posted by Brian Moberg at Jul 15, 2013 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The 12U Wildcats battled through the heat and three rounds of bracket play, defeating the Skokie Slammers Blue, Park Ridge Pistols Blue and Chicago Fireworks Blue in three exciting games.  After falling behind to Skokie the Wildcats battled back for the win.  Facing Park Ridge, both teams fought hard for every at bat as the pitching kept them off balance.  The wildcats broke through in the 6th and held on 2-0.  In the Championship game again, both teams struggled to get on base early, but the Wildcats were able to push through with some great small ball and earned the title with a 6-2 victory.  Nice work Ladies!!! image

The 10U Wildcats perservered in the heat during the Thrill in the Ville Warrenville tournament this weekend.  Starting bracket play as the 10th seed, the Wildcats defeated Plainfield Edge Chaos first, taking the lead in the 6th after being tied the previous inning and going on to a 12-8 victory.  In the second round, they outlasted the St. Charles Comets in a squeaker, 1-0.  Next, they battled the Elmhurst Emerlds to a 5th inning tie, but once again found a way to break through in the 6th to win 12-9.  Earning a spot in the Championship game vs. the Plainfield Twisters, the Wildcats would play their 4th game of the day.  Entering the 6th tied again, this time 2-2, the Wildcats fell to the Twisters in the bottom of the 6th, 3-2.  All in all an impressive showing coming from the 10th seed to finish 2nd, completing their tournament season with 4 victories and a 2nd place.  WAY TO GO WILDCATS!!! image
