SNAPPER SWIM CLUB
Located in Great Barrington MA, in the Kilpatrick Athletic Center on the campus of Bard College at Simon’s Rock. We compete locally and regionally having some meets in Vermont, Massachusetts, New York and Connecticut. Snapper Swim Club is a New England Swimming member swim team. New England Swimming is a part of USA Swimming, the governing body which over sees the USA Olympic swimming team selection.
Our swimmers range in age from 7 to 18, and they range in ability from beginning swimmers to Age Group qualifiers, and Massachusetts High School State Meet Qualifiers.

Registration begins in person on April 19th in the Aquatics Office.
Practice begins Monday, April 25th @ 4:00 PM

Training Group Guidelines
Novice Training Group
-Practice schedule outline
Two nights per week
practice length 45 minutes
-Group focus
technique based
learning the basics of all 4 competitive strokes
gain experience in intra-team competitions as well as local away meets
develop a positive relationship with swimming
-Group requirements
age 6 – 10
must be able to swim one length of the pool in both freestyle and backstroke
Intermediate Training Group
-Practice Schedule Outline
4 nights per week
Practice length: 1 hour
-Group Focus
Legalizing all four competitive strokes
Developing good practice habits ( i.e. attendance, be on time, listening to coaches’ instructions)
Introduces swimmers to drills with focus on body awareness
Practices are 85% technique, 15% training
Gain experience in intra-team competitions and local away meets
-Group Requirements
Must have basic knowledge of all 4 competive strokes in addition to Novice Group entry requirements
Advanced Training Group
-Practice Schedule Outline
Five practices per week
Practice length 1.5-2 hours
Dry-land 1-3 days per week: may be running/weights/etc.
-Group focus
Learning more advanced drills, focusing on increasing efficiency of the four competitive strokes
Learn and implement race strategies during meets
Practices are 50% technique, 50% training
Use complicated interval training on a daily basis
-Group requirements
Attend a minimum of 80% of workouts monthly
Attend a minimum of four away swim meets per season
11-12 members must have achieved 11-12 “BB” time standard in a majority of events
13-14 members must have achieved 13-14 “B” time standard in majority of events
Successfully complete the training set of: 10 X 100 free on 1:40
