IM Ready

Posted by Jim Hennessey at Dec 22, 2014 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The First step in the IMX challenge is IM Ready.  To get IM ready, swimmers compete in a series of five events at shorter distances. Here are the events by age group:

 9 & Under; 10-year olds: 100 Free, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Fly, 100IM

11+12 year olds: 200 Free, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Fly, 100 IM

13-18 year olds: 200 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, 200 IM

Once you have swum each event at an offical meet you can log into your deck pass account and see where you rank agianst your team members and other swimmers in the region and in the nation.

At SNAPPER SWIM CLUB we start each season training for the IM.  Every swimmer who swims for SNAP will compete in the IM at some point in the season, and we feel that the IM is the greatest indicator of your swimming skill.  We will never limit a swimmer to one event because as swimmers grow specialities will change.

The SNAPPERS train in the Kilpatrick Athletic Center pool, located on the campus of Simon's-Rock College of Bard.  It has eight 25 yard competition lanes with non-turbulant lane lines.  The dive end of the pool is seven feet deep and the turn end is four feet in depth.  The facility uses a daktronics timing system for swim meets.  In addition to the pool the Kilpatrick center has a basketball court with a rasied 16th of a mile track above, three squash/racketball courts, an areobics room, a indoor rockwall, weight room, and four tennis courts.
