Danville Juniors Win Virgina State Tournament

The Danville Junior all-stars completed a perfect run through the Virginia state tournament, defeating Front Royal by the score of 8-1 in the championship game played in Bristol. It is the first state title in the history of the juniors program. The team from Danville won all five tournament games, including two over Front Royal, and one each over Alexandria, Fleet Park, and Dumfries/Tringle/Quantico little leagues. The juniors will head to Greeneville, SC for the Southeast Reqional Tournament, August 2-6.

The Danville National 9-10 year old all-stars competed in the Virginia state tournament, July 18-20, hosted by the Tuckahoe LL. The Danville team had a tough draw for pool play. In their first game they were outgunned by eventual state runner-up McLean American LL. Next, they fell to pool champion and eventual semi-finalist SYA East. However, the Nationals regrouped and defeated Essex County in a comeback win on the final day of pool play. Congratulations and thank you Nationals for an exciting summer!
Danville National 9-10s Win District 2

The Danville National 9-10 year olds clinched the District 2 title with two hard fought wins over Lynchburg Jefferson. The first victory on June 24 came in a 3-2, extra inning game that included two stoppages due to lightning. After playing through the loser's bracket Jefferson defeated the Nationals on June 28th. The rubber game was played on June 29 at Miller Park, and the Nationals were in control thoughout in the 13-8 victory. The Danville National team will travel to Richmond for the State Tournament July 18-21, hosted by the Tuckahoe LL.
