Dave's defeats Junior Police 5-0
In a battle of the top two teams in the major league standings, Dave’s Marketplace won the rubber match of their three game regular season series by a score of 5-0. The game played much closer than the score indicated, as the score was 1-0 heading into the 5th inning, but Dave’s broke it open with 2 runs in each of the last two innings. Ryan Gwaltney pitched 5 strong innings for Dave’s keeping the very potent JP’s offence off balance. Ryan allowed 5 hits and struck out 9 over his 5 innings. Dave’s banged out 11 hits off Jarrett Hurteau but he never allowed a “big” inning as Dave’s had numerous opportunities to run the score up higher, but tremendous defensive plays by Trevor Huntington, Cam Lamarre, and Nick Mungeon kept JP’s within range to make a late comeback. In the bottom of the 6th, JP’s made a last offensive push when they worked Dave’s ace closer Zach Sullivan for 3 walks with 2 outs, but Sullivan and catcher Peter Webber caught Bobby Daly trying to steal home on a pass ball and secured the shutout for Dave’s. Dave’s offense was sparked by Alex Smith who went 2 for 2, Jimmy Moan who went 2 for 3, Ryan Nabb who went 2 for 2, and both Zach Sullivan and Ryan Gwaltney both hit bombs off the center field fence for doubles. JP’s hits were from Mongeon and Huntington who both went 2 for 2, and Tyler Chabot whom went 1 for 3.
Junior Police defeats Allies 2-1
Junior Police defeated Allies 2-1 on 6/10 behind a complete game pitching performance by Bobby Daly. Junior Police scored twice in the 4th inning when Jarett Hurteau doubled after Daly and Mongeon walked. Cam Lamarre's fielders choice bringing home Mongeon proved to be the winning run for JP. Cam Pierson also doubled for JP while Daly and Mongeon had singles.
Daly limited Allies to 2 hits while striking out 6.
Allies got hits from Matt Pazienza, Jack Lafrennier and a nice pitching performance by Nic Gartland with short relief help from Zach Lynch.
JP's improves their record to 10-7 while battling for 2nd place with 1 game left.
Junior Police defeats Bailey's
Junior Police led by the pitching and hitting of Nic Mongeon defeated Bailey's. Mongeon allowed only 3 hits while striking out 6. Joe Craven of Bailey's struck out 8 of the first 10 JP batters while holding down a Bailey's 1- 0 lead. Junior Police in the 4th inning exploded for 5 runs when Cam Pearson walked,Tyler Chabot reached on a bunt single followed by a Chad Mansolillo single and a Bob Daly walk. With the bases loaded Nic Mongeon launched a grand slam home run to deep left center clearing the bases. Nic's homer was his 5th of the season and his 2nd grand slam.
JP would add 2 in the 5th on a Chad Mansolillo double scoring Nathan Ackerman and Tyler Chabot..In the 6th JP added insurance runs when Joey Chichitti doubled with the bases loaded.
DJ Kennedy,Joe Craven and Mike Buckman each had hits for Bailey's.
