Cubs 18 vs Cardinals 11
Coach Cool's Pinto Cubs overcame the odds, suprising everyone with the first big upset of the tournament. The fan-favorite #7 seeded Cubs came out fighting with their bats blazing. They put up a quick 5 runs in the top of the 1st, and shut down the #2 seeded Cardinals in the bottom of the inning. The Cubs continued to hold the Cards in the 2nd to just 1 run, but then gave up 5 in both the 3rd and 4th. Notorious for blowing leads in the final innings, the Cubs' coaching staff made a few adjustments, and again played perfect defense in both the 5th and 6th innings against the regular season's highest scoring team, while scoring an additional 5 in the 6th. A note worthy performance was put forth by Coach Lineberry, dealing strikes from the mound despite an injured arm. The final score: Cubs 18, Cardinals 11.

Yankees 7 vs Orioles 10
In an unusually low scoring game for 2 power-house, hitting teams, the #6 seeded Yankees held tight to the #3 seeded Orioles in a defensive battle. Both teams opened up with 5 runs each in the 1st. The Yankees scored another in the top of the 2nd, but held the Orioles scoreless in the bottom of the inning. With the game tied in the middle of the 5th, the Orioles bats were able to squeak out 3 more runs, and then shut the Yankees down in the 6th. The Yankees now wait until Wednesday to play the winner of the Phillies and Cardinals.
