1st Annual Holiday Party A Success

Posted by Tom Wendorf at Dec 22, 2013 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Hopefully you were able to join us for the Holiday Party at Fox's Pizza Den last week. There was a great turnout. When you get a chance, ask Terry Shifflett and Jesse Bare about the presents they received.

Three large boxes of toys were collected for the Toys for Tots campaign. Way to go guys (and gals)!!

Everyone had a good time. There was a suggestion that the OTS players get together again soon. Keep checking the OTS News for info on a possible January get-together.

Photos of the event will be uploaded to Shutterfly soon. Check back later for the link.

At the party it was announced that Fox's Pizza Den has agreed to become a team sponsor for the 2014 season. Be sure to stop by (this is the one at Rt. 54 and Rt. 20) and welcome them to the league.

OTS Holiday Party - Wednesday, December 18th

Posted by Tom Wendorf at Dec 9, 2013 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

OTS players and their wives/girl friends/partners/significant others are invited to an informal Holiday Get-Together at Fox's Pizza Den from 2:00 to 4:00 on Wednesday, 12/18. Fox's is located next to the Harris Teeter off Rt. 54. This is not the Fox's in Ocean View off Rt. 24 (see link below).

Our very own OTS Elf, Johnny Allen, will be collecting Toys for Tots, the well-known U.S. Marine Corps Reserve program. If you're in the Holiday Spirit, bring an unwrapped new toy with you. If you're more into Grinch mode, come without a present. See link below for more Toys for Tots information.

If you have questions or need more information, contact Keith Purdy at (302) 292-1000 or ktpurdy21@aol.com.

Hope to see everyone there.

(This is not an OTS-sponsored function. You are responsible for your own check, and anyone else's you'd like to pick up.)

No Winter Ball This Week

Posted by Tom Wendorf at Dec 8, 2013 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Based on the weather forecast, no Winter Ball is planned for 12/10 or 12/12.

The unofficial OTS Winter Ball President provided this information on the controversies from last Thursday's second game:

At the end of game 2 Thursday, there appeared to be two major controversial calls that have since been reviewed (Ed’s video game coverage, satellite images, and personal interviews).

Upon further review, both calls have been upheld.

1. First Baseman (Kerry) did in fact bobble the ball. Runner was safe!

2. Runner (Terry — Mr. Integrity) attempting to score from third base DID NOT cross the official line of no return!

When asked about the play at third base Terry said, “I cannot tell a lie. I did not cross the line and I did not know that my bat was pre-rolled at the factory.”

Therefore, the victory for this game will be officially awarded to Bo Wood’s team.

Speaking of Ed's video game coverage, check out the videos from his helmet cam for last Tuesday's and Thursday's games.

Winter Ball - Thursday, 12/5

Posted by Tom Wendorf at Dec 3, 2013 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Tuesday was a great day for a ball game. 37 players showed up and it was sunny and warm.

The unofficial president of OTS Winter Softball reported:

Bo and Jesse hand-picked the teams and intentionally swindled their fellow players! They played on the very same team and picked the best players. Obviously, Bo and Jesse’s team won the game.

Many players gathered at the American Legion after the game to start a petition to remove Bo and Jesse from all future OTS Winter Softball games. More news will follow as this story develops!

The weather is looking great for more softball on Thursday. The same schedule will be followed - batting practice from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., 9-inning game to follow.
